Video: Fallen Indiana Officer's Grave Desecrated

VIDEO: Fallen Indiana Officer's Grave Defaced

A fallen Lawrenceburg, Ind., police officer's grave has become the target of vandals.

Sergeant Tom Cochran died in the line of duty on January 26, 2005. This weekend, the Cochran family discovered that his headstone had been defaced, WKRC TV reports.

For Jo'nee and Tomya Cochran, it's hard to find the words to describe the level of disrespect displayed by whoever is responsible for spray painting the word "pig" on their hero's headstone. "There needs to be consequences, this is not acceptable,” said Tomya.

Not only did the vandals tag the memorial, they also covered Cochran’s picture. "It’s sad, and for our family to remember him every day for the last ten years and try to honor him, this is complete dishonor,” said Tomya.

Cochran died in 2005 when his patrol car hit a patch of ice and wrecked. He was responding to an emergency call. The headstone also bears the name of Cochran’s widow, Jo'nee.

The vandalism of Cochran's headstone is gaining attention on social media across the country. There is a growing reward for information about those responsible. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office.

Sad situation however it is unfortunately to be expected in light of the chaos that is ongoing across this great nation. I am not one for wishing harm on others however there are always exceptions. Rest in peace brother, your offender will be made known.

As always the cowards take on the heroes, even those who have departed, anonymously and under the cover of darkness. Well, embrace that darkness you useless thugs because you are destined to spend eternity there. God speed D/Sgt Cochran. Thank you for your sacrifice.

To desecrate a Fallen Officers resting place is absolutely Out-of-Bounds, Off Limits, & Crossing the Invisible Line. It's the lowest a human being can go & this/these offender(s) must be caught. This Officer Died, In-The-Line-Of-Duty attempting to help another. Regardless of what's going on in todays world his Place-of-Rest deserves the utmost courtesy & respect.

As I've said, every L.E.O. should get the Blue Flu for 1 week. Everyone. Let the public know how important you & your duties are.

The offender is an idiot. However, that does not mean the rest of us need to be bigger idiots by becoming tools for them..."the blue flu" because of a few or perhaps a growing number of idiots..come on guys... those are the idiots you are suppose to protect the public from. Not everyone shares those ideas... But if suddenly, good LEO's start thinking that is the appropriate response, then those officers are in the wrong job in the first place and got into the job for the wrong reason, and they are no better than this idiot!
