4 Florida Dispatchers Placed on Leave After Deputy's Ambush Murder

December 04, 2014  |

Four dispatchers with the Consolidated Dispatch Agency were placed on administrative leave the same day a Tallahassee man ambushed and gunned down Leon County Deputy Chris Smith.

Timothy Lee, director of the city/county agency, said in a two-page memo sent Nov. 26 to city and county officials that the four public-safety communications officers were placed on paid leave pending the outcome of an internal review.

He did not elaborate on the reason why, though the memo discusses problems with the agency's "premise hazards and notifications," which are designed to give first responders any pertinent information about an address where they've been sent, including potential known dangers, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.

As a L.E.O. one's life hangs in the information that a dispatcher gives. I tried to assist/dispatch one time. No way I could ever do that as a job. They're under-paid & over information hammered people. But when a danger flag is on someone's file it has to be relayed no matter what the stress level(s). Bad situation for this all the way around.

C'MON POLICE MAGAZINE!!! THIS A**HOLES IS AT IT AGAIN. I read the article with my department when a flagged subjects entered into the system, the surrounding area is as well. If the address isn't where the subject resides the block number is alerted as well. Just so the officer has a heads up. mohamed can't even spell his own name right, wow and we're the dumb ones. Im convinced you are a wannanbe, but was turned down. For obvious reasons. Anyways get some help. You really need it.

S.S. @ 12/5/2014 9:30 AM

I guess I struck a nerve. I guess I got it right. You are exactly what I thought you would be. A wannabe, uneducated, irresponsible p.o.s. with an inferiority complex. Go get a job, and stop being a burden to society.

S.S. @ 12/5/2014 11:59 AM

Damn m.f. you are a wannabe. You are definately a REJECT. I can tell. You really hate. Your probably pacing back and forth right about now. All you gotta do is stay off the site. Im only posting this so you get the picture, and realize that actually you are not pissing anyone off. You are only making us laugh, while you sit there and have a hissy fit. RELAX, and go think of some more shit to say. It's actually quite funny. Hopefully your mommy and daddy (or brother and sister in your case) will read this and you get punished.

And thank you Police Mag.

So much anger. ([email protected])There isn't even a post here by the person you claim to be angry with. Perhaps you need new medication or a higher dosage.

B.T. @ 12/6/2014 8:51 AM

Yes there was Ima Leprechaun. But Police Mag removed the anti police posts from an individual that was very out of line. So your just seeing some of the responses and not the posts that generated them.

Mickey Rivers @ 12/6/2014 1:11 PM

I think that Police Magazine needs to MODERATE some of the posts by certain individuals who obviously have NO LEO background? If not, then I for one will OPT out from receiving any emails from them. We get enough crap out in the real world and some of the garbage being spooled from A$$holes especially after critical attacks on LEO'S, is not what I would expect within a Publication supporting Law Enforcement? If enough people cancel or threaten to cancel their emails and/or subscriptions, then maybe PM will moderate accordingly? After all, they rely on our business to stay in business? Just saying.
