Holder Announces New Anti-Profiling Guidelines for Federal Officers

December 02, 2014  |

The U.S. Department of Justice will announce stiff new protocols to curtail profiling by federal law enforcement in the coming days, Attorney General Eric Holder announced Monday evening.

Speaking at an interfaith service and community forum at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta following last week’s grand jury decision in Ferguson, Missouri, Holder previewed the long-awaited announcement, which would be the first change to federal law enforcement guidelines on racial profiling in more than a decade, Time Magazine reports.

“In the coming days, I will announce updated Justice Department guidance regarding profiling by federal law enforcement, which will institute rigorous new standards—and robust safeguards—to help end racial profiling, once and for all,” Holder said at the first of several planned regional community discussions in the aftermath of the Ferguson grand jury decision. “This new guidance will codify our commitment to the very highest standards of fair and effective policing.”

Holder, speaks as a true racist. I thought Holder (this POS) was leaving. WTF is taking him so long.

kevCopAz @ 12/2/2014 4:00 PM

Im sure that even if he is leaving he will have time for one more racist attempt at the cops….the law will be simple, if suspect is minority PD should just leave them alone and if they are white then any use of force is OK. simple rule. Even the Feds could follow that (as if they don't now).

He is such a racist puke. I really hope Reps get the White House next time and indite this scum for Fast & Furious etc etc etc.

Tom Ret @ 12/2/2014 4:59 PM

You can bet Holder is not aiming for a level playing field but is stacking the deck for the race he wants to get special treatment. Anyone who objects is automatically labeled a racist and federal agencies ready to put them in their place.

The Holder/Obama team have been a great scourge on this country.

XXXXX @ 12/2/2014 5:20 PM

I think you have it backwards. You can't blame O and Holder for the mess this country is in. O said from the get go he was going to fundamentally change this country, people voted for him and he has done what he set out to do. It's the other politicians (on both sides) who haven't stopped him who are to blame. Our government was designed that no one person got too powerful, but if no one stands up, this is what you get. Sad, but true.

ExFed @ 12/2/2014 7:05 PM

Once again Eric Holder proves his irrelevance. Holder. Forgotten but not gone.

Sgtmac @ 12/2/2014 8:31 PM

XXXXX has it right.......Holder and Obama are just symptoms of a nation sliding into the abyss.

Retired Chief @ 12/3/2014 6:49 AM

I agree with xxxxx that the voters in this country are partially responsible for the current mess. But this has been coming for decades, ever since we placed the focus on "it's all about me" instead of duty, honor, and personal responsibility. And, ever since we threw reliance on the Almighty out of our schools and the public square. Just as the current administration continues to destroy our military their focus for the remainder of the Marxist's term in office will be on destroying law enforcement. Politically correct police NON leaders are as much to blame as the administration. We need more real leaders like Sheriff Joe and Sheriff Clarke to not only say NO but hell no. If we let the profession of law enforcement be destroyed it is no fault but our own. We need to man up, adhere to our Oath of Office and tell the feds to pack it even if that means no longer accepting federal government money or equipment.

I follow this blog because it often portrays both side of officer-related news fairly. However, recently the comments sections (like this one about AG Holder) have been so disrespectful to legal federal authority that I get a little creeped out. Where is the respect for leadership? Why does an LEO thread sound like an anti-government thread? I love and support my police, but I cringe when I think other people read through the comments sections of police blogs like policemag.com. Why exactly are there so many negative comments from uniformed professionals about our Attorney General, or about our Commander in Chief even? Shouldn't this be about inter-agency cooperation and community outreach? Please everyone, these anti-Holder, anti-President comments don't help anyone out! Sincerely, *A Concerned Citizen/Volunteer/Law Enforcement Supporter*

The only profile I ever used was a "suicide profile", which is used to find the body. I have no idea what a criminal profile is or how to use one. I worked a whole career and never used a criminal profile once.
