VIDEO: Officer Darren Wilson Discussing Resignation with Ferguson Officials

As a grand jury gets closer to deciding whether or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson, the man who fatally shot Michael Brown is in the final stages of negotiations with Ferguson city officials to resign, sources close to the talks said.

While Wilson has told associates he would resign to help ease pressure and protect his fellow officers, he has expressed concern about resigning while the grand jury was still hearing evidence for fear it would appear he was admitting fault.

The Ferguson officer could announce his plans to resign as soon as Friday, the same day a St. Louis County grand jury meets to deliberate and possibly decide on an indictment.

The talks could still collapse, the sources close to the talks said. Wilson doesn't know what the grand jury will do and, if they opt to charge him, he could change his mind.

Wilson, who has six years on the force with no disciplinary issues on his record, is currently on paid administrative leave.

While I don't believe he did anything wrong, there really is no way for him to stay on the force. Come to Houston. I hear Harris County pays better, but I'm sure either department would welcome him.

132&Bush @ 11/21/2014 6:47 PM

This is bull. No way make them pay for getting rid of you.

Chuck @ 11/22/2014 7:08 AM

My dearest brother, go to another department. Save yourself and your fellow officers. There's too much heat right now. Good luck Darren, take care brother

Deputy Moose @ 11/22/2014 8:50 AM

I learned long ago that life is not always fair. Good luck bro, be safe.

Eric @ 11/22/2014 9:01 AM

Darren I can't imagine how difficult this is for you, just remember you have the largest support system in the world standing behind you. Do not hesitate to lean on ALL your brothers and sisters for guidance. Best of luck to you sir

D.Irwin @ 11/22/2014 9:26 AM

You do what you think is right for you, but I believe you resigning will only add fuel to the of the protesters and race card wavers.

They will take you gesture to help your brothers and sisters as a sign of guilt or weakness.

Tom Ret @ 11/22/2014 10:33 AM

If he decides to resign, then he is deserving of a large severance package as his leaving has been forced on him by no fault of his own. Or he should be able to sue the likes of Sharpton and/or the black panthers for putting his life and that of his family at risk and forcing his move.

rede2hike @ 11/22/2014 11:37 AM

I don't know how it works back east but in the west if you leave your agency you are on your own. If we leave our agency will no longer provide any legal coverage/assisrance and will drop you like a hit rock & the officer is totally on their own, so be sure that Avenue is well checked out.
It's time for the protectors to take a long second look at what has become to Obama's America.
I am so glad I'm coming to the end of shift, we are damned if we do and royally screwed by everyone if we dont.
All of you be damned careful, be sure your recorders are on and watch each others backs because no one else cares but another officer.

Capt. Crunch @ 11/22/2014 9:12 PM

Officer Wilson, should not resign and he should be assured by his department that the police can handle any problem that exist for his situation. I personally would not resign for doing my job. I say screw these black morons.

Longarm9 @ 11/23/2014 2:08 AM

If he did nothing wrong, and I believe he did not, then he should definitely not resign. He should tell the cop hating morons protesting to get stuffed.

Ima Leprechaun @ 11/23/2014 5:26 PM

It's not right, but I completely understand your desire. I think just for personal and family safety reasons moving elsewhere would be a good idea but the city should pay for it.

TheRookie @ 11/23/2014 8:27 PM

The race-baiters have created an 'environment' that no one should have to work under. He should get through this, take a nice severance package, & go to another state. Here in Kansas they are always in need of Officers for most every position. His qualifications would be welcomed at many agencies.

Capt. Crunch @ 11/23/2014 11:00 PM

Officer Wilson, should not run away from a problem. His family could be placed in the witness protection program, paid by the state. What happens to the next white police officer who shoots a black violent criminal in Ferguson. This type of BS has to stop now otherwise this will happen in other states.

Marshal @ 11/24/2014 7:42 AM

He shouldn't resign because he did nothing wrong. What we should do as police is let them riot and destroy their neighborhoods and do not give them money to rebuild. If you want to destroy then destroy your stuff. The kid attacked a cop and tried to take his gun. In any training I have had that is a deadly force situation. Is an officer supposed to stand there and take a beating just because it is a black person attacking him? Any death of anyone is tragic. Doesn't matter the color of skin. But if the public doesn't want to support the police then let them riot and destroy their neighborhoods. If we are accused of being "too military like" when the riot police show up to quell a riot then let them do it and see what happens. Go ahead and riot and reaffirm the prejudices against you already. Open your eyes and see it wasn't a race issue. It was a young man attacking a police officer and he got killed. Nothing more nothing less. No race involved.

S.S. @ 11/24/2014 7:49 AM

I don't think Officer Wilson is running away, but remember he has to think about his family, and himself. Do you think he would be able to work anywhere in that town, without being recognized. His life would definately be in danger and so would his family. You have all these p.o.s. protesting and there will be riots. Sharpton and the other asshole Holder have definately convinced Ferguson that it was racially motivated. It wasn't we all now that. It was a matter of life and death. That's why brown was killed. He had just finished commiting a robbery, and brown knew that he was gonna be arrested, so he fought and he lost. Brown's fault!!! The damn media doesn't wanna talk about brown's criminal history, or even his mother or stepmother is also being looked at a robbery charge. All because she wasn't getting any cut of the money of tshirts that were being sold. The media is responsible for this. Good luck Officer Wilson. You have the entire l.e. nation behind you.

Captain @ 11/24/2014 8:42 AM

the liberal media had him painted guilty from the first day. Gov. Nixon and his agency didn't support Officer Wilson. Darren may god bless you and your family.

Ima Leprechaun @ 11/24/2014 4:08 PM

The so called liberal media is all owned by Conservative Republicans. Just thought you should know.

Bill @ 11/25/2014 8:15 AM

Ima Leprechaun, do you have any grasp on reality? Sheesh.
