Missouri Governor Declares State of Emergency, Activates Guard for Pending Grand Jury Decision

November 17, 2014  |

The National Guard will assist law enforcement if any unrest should occur following the grand jury decision of whether or not to charge police officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of teenager Michael Brown. On Monday, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a State of Emergency in Missouri. He signed an executive order saying, “the Guard will provide support for law enforcement’s objectives of maintaining safety and protecting constitutional rights.”

The order also says the Missouri State Highway Patrol, St. Louis County Police Department and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department will operate as a unified command. The St. Louis County Police Department will have command and operational control over security in the city of Ferguson in areas of protests and acts of civil disobedience, should such activities occur.

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay responded to the order telling Fox2 St. Louis that he agrees with Governor Nixon’s decision. He explained that National Guard members will be secondary to local law enforcement. The goal he says is to make sure people feel safe and that protesters can express their First Amendment rights

Aren't you all happy GESTAPO this is Ferguson, MO and not SOMALIA or ROWANDA AFRICA? Try crowd control there---after shooting a few skinnies? Don't worry they can send in a few National Guard troops to assist? LOL

Good luck guys and gals. May St. Michael be looking over all LEOS when this verdict comes out. Mrs Brown I'm so sorry your son was an idiot and attacked a police officer, but maybe if you had been a better parent and not let your kid play in the street we wouldn't be in this situation.

The Coast Guard has an excellent motto: Semper Paratus (always prepared). Ferguson police should emulate this motto and follow it. It is a known-known that one is to NOT waste time arguing with a Drunk. It is also a known-known that when minds are made up in advance of data and facts connecting the dots logically and dispassionately are being ignored, then that allows the Lynch Mob reasoning to prevail. The only recourse is PPPPP--Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Police must be prepared. The National Guard must be present and laws must be enforced. Stun guns, water cannons, rubber bullets and snipers at the ready should be in place waiting for the idiots, and outsiders flocking in to create chaos and use confusion to foster pre-planned looting. The Ferugson LEOS can be excused for the sudden, unexpected influx of rabble rousers that descended the first time using chaos to cover their mischief and looting. For this next round, it will be a different story.
