Dallas police officers used a tourniquet Thursday night to save a man’s life after he was shot in Pleasant Grove.

Officers responded to a shooting call around 10:45 p.m. in the 8100 block of Maddox Avenue near Buckner Boulevard. A man had been shot in the leg and was believed to be in critical condition with officers arrive, police told the Dallas Morning News.

An officer used a tourniquet on the man. The tourniquet is part of a medical kit the Dallas Police Department supplied to 3,200 officers last year. A similar kit was used to save an on-duty Dallas police officer shot earlier this year.
