VIDEO: 2 Illinois Deputies Shot at Domestic, Suspect at Large

Two Illinois sheriff's deputies were shot in suburban Holiday Hills early Thursday during a standoff, and the shooter is still on the loose, police said.

The McHenry County Sheriff's deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. to a home in the 1300 block of West Northeast Shore Drive for a well-being check related to a domestic situation. The call came from outside the home, police said, from someone who was concerned about the people inside.

When the officers responded, the suspect opened fire through the door and they were struck, Deputy Sheriff Aimee Knop told NBC Chicago.

The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Scott B. Peters. Authorities say he is armed and dangerous.

The officers were transported to area hospitals, where one, a 12-year veteran deputy, was listed in stable condition and the other, a 7-year veteran deputy, in stable but critical condition.

The suspect actually shot TWO LEO's with by the Pistorius Technique? Sounds like Murphy's Law at its worst. At least it did not happen in Africa where the Judge would decide in favor of the Perp.

Hate top arm chair quarterback, but Perp is still alive? not shot? not even in custody? Wow luck was with him! Hope both deputies come out ok and the PD find and arrest this idiot.

Shooter in custody with no shots fired. ???

SRT-TM @ 10/16/2014 5:23 PM

Shooter's in custody. No shots fired. Thank goodness he's OK....he's really not a bad guy...he shot through the door. LOL Scratching head over this thing. Seeing that there are no real facts available, I'll reserve my judgement for later. But I bet I'm still going to have some tactical questions.

FairnessForAll @ 10/17/2014 3:48 AM

Lookie there...a perp that is NOT black, imagine that!!! So all perps are not black men...hmmmm

John @ 10/18/2014 5:00 PM

Why didn't the FEMALE officer who was shot in the leg return fire....hmmmm
