VIDEO: Secret Service Head Grilled on White House Breach

Facing blistering criticism from Congress, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson said Tuesday she takes full responsibility for the breach of White House security in which a man with a knife entered the mansion and ran through half the ground floor before being subdued, reports the Associated Press.

"It's unacceptable," Pierson told lawmakers, promising a review of how the storied but blemished agency carries out its mission of protecting the president and how it failed to intercept the intruder much earlier.

"I'll make sure that it does not happen again," she said.

Pierson also said there have been six fence-jumpers this year alone, including one just eight days before Army veteran Omar J. Gonzalez jumped the fence on Sept. 11.

Members of Congress briefed by the agency apparently weren’t told of the full extent of the breach. Details only emerged later.

This story doesn't cover the 7 shots at the White House with one hitting close to an agent but a supervisor told them to stand down,it was just a truck back firing 7 times, with holes in the White House, lazy supervisor failed to investigate.Ever have a lazy supervisor, that didn't want to investigate,it interferred with his eating, chasing skirts or just goofing off in general.

Obama's incompetence seems to have permeated the secret service, at least its leadership. This incident only involved one guy with a knife in his pocket. What would have happened if 50-100 jihadi types launched an attack who were ready to martyr themselves?

kevCopAz @ 9/30/2014 7:22 PM

Embarrising to say the least. Im not an Obama supported but he is our President and should be protected better then this! I hate to say it but I agree with Tom Rat above, if that was just one terrorist with a small back pack bomb, this could have been a really bad outcome. The only good that would come of that would be finally The President and other Libs might take security more seriously since it would hit home (literally) One knows when the President is traveling in a crowd or a vehicle he is venerable, but in his own "highly secured" residence??? That subject should have been gunned down as he ran across the lawn! Where in the heck were the snipers? Where the heck was the guard on the door, why wasn't he armed and shoot? An "off-duty" uniformed guard (assigned to the children) stopped him. If I'm not mistaken Obama appointed the head of the Secret service,"first female", so apparently gender was reason, not competence. She "took fully responsibility" so, fire her &the door guard

I see to many cops out there playing around as they think its a big joke on the streets and its not and not paying attention.

TheRookie @ 9/30/2014 10:12 PM

Consider the source(s) from POTUS on down. A.G. With-Holder is complicit in the murder of a Federal Border Patrol Agent, The Director of the Treasury is a Wall Street moneyman, Treasury Inspector General in charge of the Secret Service was hand picked, the former SS Director was in his own world, & this new SS Director is a prior formal White House Staff Aide with no (zero) L.E. experience of any kind. Kind of like hiring a High School Principle to be a Chief of Police.

CaptMidnight @ 10/1/2014 2:55 PM

SS is now under Homeland Security, Not Treasury.
Since 911 we have the TSA and other "agencies"
Where was the White House Police?
Refer to the attack on President Truman
The book "American Gunfight"tells it all.
Those Secret Service agents and white House pol, icemen earned their pay that day. Thankfully President Truman was accross the street @ Blair House taking a nap went the shooting started.
Capitol Police had subdued the other terrorists, that had jumped from the House Gallery to the Chamber Floor.
May we never have another day like that.

Capt. Crunch @ 10/1/2014 10:59 PM

@ CaptMidnight, it is a good thing for the dirt bags that president Truman, was sleeping otherwise the president would open up a can of whip axx on them.

TheRookie @ 10/2/2014 3:13 AM

CapMidnight, You're absolutely correct. I forgot they made that PC move some years back. And she does have 30 yrs. of SS experience. I wonder where & what division she worked in. The uniform division always gets the step-child treatment. She tendered her resignation under incoming fire.

Ima Leprechaun @ 10/3/2014 6:20 AM

They used to be the best of the best, those times are long gone.
