VIDEO: Missouri Officer Survives Shot to His Gun Belt

A police officer was shot overnight in north St. Louis County, Mo., and the search is on for the suspect.

The shooting took place just off Lucas and Hunt, not far from the Norwood Country Club. St. Louis County police responded to a disturbance in the 5800 block of Eagle Valley Drive. Neighbors told police that an African-American male had been trying to enter a home there and that they had seen a woman running out the back.

When officers arrived, they saw a man quickly enter a gray Dodge Avenger. He immediately backed out of a parking space. As the officers approached the car in an attempt to talk to the man, he drove towards them. It then stopped abruptly, and several gunshots were fired from inside the car at the officers.

One of the rounds struck one of the officers in his gun belt. The second officer, a Velda City Police Officer, returned fire at the suspect. The vehicle fled the scene. It is unknown if the suspect was struck by return fire from the police officer.

The officer is expected to survive the injury.

Black on Black violence in St. Louis, 6 people dead in 18 hours. Where is Eric Holder? Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

James Bullock @ 9/10/2014 9:49 AM

Once again an officer shot, fortunately this time he was not killed. But, how many were shot and killed in the past few days. Is there national coverage like there was in the shooting at Ferguson Missouri or is it that Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and all the violent protestors feel these shootings of police officers were justified. Now Claire McCaskill and others feel that police officers should not be allowed military type equipment to protect themselves and others. They accuse the police of making a so called peaceful demonstration into a riot. God help us all. Ferguson residents are saying they will be voting out some councilmen if there are not some changes. Well we certainly need to be voting out some of our state legislators and political leaders for their actions.
