St. Louis County Officer Shoots, Critically Wounds Man Near Site of Ferguson OIS Protests

VIDEO: St. Louis County Officer Shoots, Critically Wounds Man Near Site of Ferguson OIS Protests

At about 1 a.m. Wednesday, a St. Louis County Police officer shot and critically wounded a man who police said pointed a handgun at the officer near the intersection of West Florissant and Chambers Road just outside of Ferguson, Mo.

The shooting happened near Chambers and Sheffingdell Court, not far from the site of protests against police over Saturday's fatal shooting of Michael Brown. The location is in unincorporated St. Louis County, less than a mile from the QuikTrip in Ferguson that was looted and burned Sunday night, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Police said they received a call reporting about four to five men in the area armed with shotguns and wearing ski masks. They also got reports of shots fired in the area. Police officers arrived and saw "multiple subjects running," said police spokesman Officer Brian Schellman.

An officer approached one of the men, who pulled a handgun on the officer, Schellman said. The officer then fired, Schellman said.

Lenny, go away.... with your fidiot language!

boston's finest @ 8/13/2014 12:07 PM

Don't mess with the POLICE.

God bless them!

kcpdk4 @ 8/13/2014 12:11 PM

I looked up Lenny in the dictionary and the definition was Idiot. That explains it all!!!

Capt. Crunch @ 8/13/2014 12:22 PM

@Lenny, it appears that you agree with the rioters and looters. You are one sick dude.

Chuck @ 8/13/2014 12:24 PM

Why do you have to be a F***taŕd Leonard ? Apparently you have no clue as to what's going on. I called you out in one of my earlier posts lentard but you never answered me. Tell us what you would do if someone pulled a gun on you?

Popo @ 8/13/2014 12:28 PM

Don't lower yourself to Lenny's level. You will not get any satisfaction from it as he probably enjoys being antagonistic. I don't think you are hurting his feelings by calling him names, be professional and ignore him. We are better than that.

Bob W @ 8/13/2014 12:30 PM

Why do you respond to Lenny? Ignore him. Replying to his comments only adds fuel to his fire. I'm a 30 yr Retired Officer and it is upsetting reading his comments but ignore the stupid SOB.

The Real Lenny @ 8/13/2014 12:36 PM

hey, hey... not all Lenny's are created equal!
i don't want to have to change my name because of that f**k tard....

back on topic...
"We're pissed at the police, and they're guilty... cuz we said so.... let's go break windows and steal shit!"
and then...
"we think the police are violent! let's throw rocks and bottles at them, then shoot at their helicopter!"

still haven't found anyone who can give a good explanation (aside from, its an excuse to raise hell) as to how one is related to the other in either case...

James @ 8/13/2014 12:52 PM

So let me get this right, we should all assume wrong even when it appears there is no wrong, then we should kill, maim, rob, rape, loot and destroy the lives of the innocent people because we assume wrong may have been committed? Do I have it right?

TX Lawman @ 8/13/2014 1:00 PM

Sounds like a good shoot. I'm glad the officer is safe. God be with him, his family and all the law enforcement up there. As far as Lenny, it's best to just ignore him and not comment on his stupidity. The more attention he gets the more he comments.

krisnlc @ 8/13/2014 1:07 PM

Sad circumstances, when the officers protecting us are villianized. I dont know all the details on the Mike Brown incident..but based on what i do know, something happened to make the officer concern for his safety....i dont know that he did not exceed the amount of force....however, this new incident, based on what i have read is just a bunch of knuckleheads running around using the Brown incident as a reason to be @sses. Regardless of whether the Brown shooting was good or bad, their are a bunch of good officers swearing to protect their community over there...and these knuckleheads running amuck, present a threat which needs to be addressed....I am not condonig* the mike brown shooting, and hopefully justice will prevail there. But angry people do not have the right to change the laws on their own. I wish the officers in the St. Louis areas a safe night and dont second guess yourselves when it comes to your safety. be safe!

Leroy Johnson @ 8/13/2014 1:52 PM

I'm reminded of the Los Angeles riots. No one gave a d..n about Rodney King. His subduing and arrest was just an excuse for rioting and looting. Especially so since about half the hooligans were black and the other half Latino (almost all of them Salvadoran or Nicaraguan--very few were Mexican). As one young Latino famously remarked, "I don't give a s..t about Rodney King. Why should I care about some ni..er?"

As to the incident at issue, what do you do when someone levels a firearm at you? Shoot him until the threat is neutralized. What else can you do?

Concerned Citizen @ 8/13/2014 2:59 PM

The Degenerates in Society are easily embolden because Barry is in the WH. Like Zimmerman they play along to stupid Media Propaganda and can't think for them selves. These people are what Stalin used to call "Usefull Idiots" some make liken them to Net Trolls on Police Mag. Now what has happened is Blacks and other "Minorities" especially Illegal Ones feel free to Lynch people who are "White" or are "LEOs" and the Media makes a Circus out off it. What's next is Kangaroo Kourts for Innocent "White people and Leo's" who Defend themselves from Thugs etc.
And people who obey laws and carry guns, and are Christan will be the scourge of society. They will be mistreated more, while Thugs get off free thanks to the One World Order Government.

captaindan166 @ 8/13/2014 3:43 PM

To Lenny; Re your comment comparing Albuquerque to St. Louis County, I was raised in NM and had a great law enforcement career in St. Louis. I wouldn't trade the time in either regardless of the issues that might befall our police community. Clearly, you have no concept of those communities but apparently feel compelled to regurgitate the mindless utterings of others who's single agenda is to divide a community through racial bias. Just one other question Lenny, where do you derive your right to judge communities like Albuquerque and St. Louis, much less law enforcement? Just a guess here, you've never lived in either place and never worn a badge of honor.

db in AZ @ 8/13/2014 6:59 PM

Thank You "Concerned Citizen"! for your clear insight.

Bill @ 8/14/2014 9:29 AM

These rioters/looters are the lowest of the low. Taking advantage of grief for personal gain... There's just not much one can say about that.
However, the response from the local LEO's has been abhorrent. Take this incident:
http://boingboing.net/2014/08/14/video-of-ferguson-police-gassi.html

This was a deliberate attack on a news crew. This is THE very definition of tyranny.

Bill @ 8/14/2014 11:34 AM

Oh my God! Who killed Lenny?
