Man Dead, 5 Officers Injured in Washington State Shootout

July 21, 2014  |

A man was shot dead by Kent (Wash.) PD officers early Sunday afternoon in a shootout near a hotel on the north end of the city, reports the Seattle Times.

During the gunfire, one shot hit a propane tank, causing it to explode and injure four of five officers involved in the incident.

Police were called to the hotel about 10:45 a.m. on a report that someone in the hotel had a firearm. The man fled. Police set up a perimeter and when they located the man there was an exchange of gunfire.

The man was shot dead. None of the officers was hit by gunfire.

The four injured by the exploding propane tank suffered superficial burns and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

That is just wild. Thank goodness all the involved officers are going to be OK and there's one less perp to deal with. Adjudicated at the scene and released to higher authority. There was a scene in the movie "Shooter" where a propane tank was shot with a rifle and the resulting explosion brought down a copter full of bad guys. Life trying to imitate art...

Glad the officers were not seriously hurt. Another fool trying to be the one that got away. It doesn't work, what goes around comes around and bites you in the ass and everywhere else Good containment officers.
