VIDEO: Indiana Officer Shot, Killed on Birthday, 3 in Custody
Officer Jeffrey Westerfield of the Gary (Ind.) Police Department was found shot to death in his patrol car Sunday morning. It was his 47thbirthday. Three subjects are in custody.
Authorities say they didn't have to go far to make three arrests in the officer's fatal shooting: Police found them all in a home less than a block away, reports the Chicago Tribune.
Sheriff John Buncich said the department, which led the investigation, received a "series of tips" that led them to the residence. "It was some good police work. Very intense police work that paid off," he said.
Westerfield was a 19-year veteran of the department. He is survived by four daughters and a fiancée he was going to wed in August.

My prayers are with the Westerfield family and the Gary, Ind. Police Department. The Ind. Police Dept. did a good job apprehending the scum-bags so fast. Also thanks to the people that provided them with good tips and information.

Sounds like the officer was a great guy.
Am I surprised some of Obama/Holder's boys were the killers

Sad. My great uncle was killed in the line of duty by a "Grudge Killing". The punks had the wrong police officer

My heart goes to his family and to the many brave officers of GPD, I was a reserve officer there in the 70's I know that city well.
Too many brothers have fallen this year, sign of the times.
