An Arizona State University police officer whose arrest of an ASU professor Ersula Ore in May has drawn national attention is now on leave, and the university has asked the FBI to review whether any civil-rights violations occurred during the arrest, according to an ASU statement.

The statement issued Wednesday said that Officer Stewart Ferrin has been placed on paid administrative leave. It went on to say that it asked the FBI for its assistance although a preliminary investigation by the police department determined Ferrin "did not engage in racial profiling or use excessive force."

It wasn't clear on Wednesday when the FBI would conduct a review.

Holder and O just giving Militant Blacks and Illegal Aliens free reign to step on the Constitution and Law Abiding citizens. Not to mention the fact that Bathhouse Barry sends "Arms" to Terrorist Organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood. While at the same time, hooking up with Anti-Gun organzations in the USA so Americans can be stripped of their rights! But some Anti-American from a Third World Dump can own GUNS and the media calls it an Arab Spring. But your friends can't own Guns because they're all "Evil Right Wingers"! So Tell me LIBERALS?? How come Militant Muslims can get Money and Guns from Obama, and Drug Cartels too? But Responsible US Citizens can't OWN GUNS? Why? What about SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED? Do you understand what that means??

Mearlando @ 7/3/2014 4:07 PM

After seeing the original video, I exclaimed "Now I know where my Grandchildren will go to College" Actions like this taken by the University Administration have further eroded my already very low opinion of Academia. The professor (hopefully not tenured) should have been suspended and be facing criminal charges for resisting and obatrcution.

Horse S**T @ 7/3/2014 7:20 PM

Now if this was switched around where a white teacher was arrested by an black officer, it would not be any where in the news! The teachers actions caused all her problems!!

Cool hand Luke @ 7/4/2014 4:33 AM

And you wonder why very few people grow up with dreams of being a Police Officer anymore!

Capt. Crunch @ 7/4/2014 9:10 AM

I feel when this investigation is over(and if it favors Ofcr. Ferrin) he should sue Prf. Ore, for violating his civil rights, claiming that he was only doing his job and that Ore, made a complaint on him because he is white.

I saw the video and its obvious that the "professor" was a rude, uncooperative POS. The officer was way more polite then I would have been. She was told numerous times what was going on , what would take place if she didn't show ID (required under AZ Traffic violation Law) yet she resisted. I just hope the Charging Atty will proceed with resisting charges in addition to the original charge, they tend to drop the resisting if the officer is not injured, a BIG mistake since this Racial Bias screaming POS will sue.. NO DEAL, prosecute her, see if ASU will terminate her!. She wants to play the game, should pay the price. Must be nice to have the FBI and the race card to play anytime you want to do so. The officer was placed on leave why NOT the ASU professor? I live here in AZ, I chose never to send my child to ANY AZ Public University, they are all full of libs and politically correct crap. I am sending my son to a conservative, Military University where this crap would not happen.

kevCopAz @ 7/4/2014 9:49 AM

Sadly, this "professor" is not a unique example of the faculty at ASU (or any other AZ state school), she is the NORM! I am amazed how people think that they are entitled to not do as ordered by a police officer. She is a prime example of folks who feel entitled to be rude, disobey laws and even fight with an officer simply because they want to do so. It is AGAINST the Law "professor" to resist even an ILLEGAL arrest in AZ. Perhaps she should ne better educated before she steps off like this. If I had been the officer, she would have gotten one order to turn around and submit then the firs sign of resisting she would have been put on the ground and cuffed, IF NOT TASED, the officer would have been within his lawful authority to step back and night stick her or rase her. I think he did the correct thing in jot doing wither but should have taken control of her more quickly. I have heard on local news she says she was racially profiled, really? These stops are daily and all races at ASU

Lenny @ 7/5/2014 2:38 PM

For J walking, nice.
@kevcopaz I'm sure the officer was way more polite than you would have been you seem to have very violent tendencies. You are probably the type that spends a great deal of time studying what you can get away with rather than the law. I have no doubt that you WOULD HAVE night sticked and rased her and claimed it was for her safety. Perhaps you should re-up with CHP and you can beat black women on the side of the road, don't forget your SAP gloves. Too bad about your son, he'll probably end up being just like you.
@ Capt. Please really explain how the officers right's were violated.

Any comments on the recent videos of your ilk throwing parapelegics from wheelchairs, and cripples from their scooters?

Or on the murder of a black woman(Yvette Smith) by a white cop(Daniel Willis) who said she had a gun when she didn't. A department that initially backed him up until it became obvious he lied. As well as supervisors tampering with his records.

Lenny @ 7/5/2014 2:45 PM

Forgot to mention that Yvette Smith was murdered for the crime of opening her door when ordered. Sounds very similar to the story of Christopher Roupe, who was murdered for opening his door when asked armed to the teeth with a Wi controller.

Capt. Crunch @ 7/6/2014 8:38 AM

@ Well Len-nerd, the officer was doing his job right. The black suspect knew she was in the wrong right. Len-nerd, are you with me so far? She sees that the officer is white and complains that the officer picked on her because she is black. The investigation shows that the officer was just doing his job. Now the officer has a civil case against the suspect and it should be easy for the officer to show the court the suspect is violating his rights because she only complained about him because he is white. Len-nerd, it works both ways. Anyway I was surprise to here from you because when I saw on TV the CHP officer protecting himself from that male dressed in drag I thought it was you.

Marshal @ 7/9/2014 7:53 AM

Lenny-I don't see you complaining when the criminals take anyone's life especially a cop's. If you want I will set a scenario up for you and give you a paintball gun and run some situations that cops get into and you can do a shoot an no shoot situation. But the problem is that if YOU make a mistake you won't be dead, sued or chastised by idiots. If a person does not agree with what an officer is doing then protest it legally in court or whatever but it is illegal for them not to obey a lawful order from a cop. Maybe the lawfulness needs contesting but that happens in court not the streets. Why is it ok for the person to blatantly violate the law by not complying then whine because they got a negative reaction? Lenny if you boss decides not to pay you for working because he doesn't fell he has to that must be ok because you feel that someone doesn't have to follow the law because they don't want to and the cops shouldn't do anything about it so you boss can not pay you.
