Mexican Police Chopper Fires on Border Patrol Agents

June 27, 2014  |

A helicopter controlled by Mexican officials traveled across the border Thursday and fired on U.S. Border Patrol agents, a U.S. official said. Mexico apologized and no one was hurt in the incident, which is under investigation.

"At approximately 5:45 a.m. Thursday morning, a Mexican law enforcement helicopter crossed approximately 100 yards north into Arizona nearly 8 miles southwest of the Village of San Miguel on the Tohono O’odham Indian Nation while on a law enforcement operation near the border," Peter B. Bidegain III, a spokesman for the United States Border Patrol, said in an email to Time. "Two shots were fired from the helicopter but no injuries or damage to U.S. property were reported. The incident is currently under investigation."

According to a KOVA, the Mexican authorities were on a drug interdiction operation. Border Patrol Tucson Sector union president Art del Cueto told the Tucson NBC affiliate that Mexico has contacted U.S. authorities and apologized for the incident.

This means WAR! Time to stop messing with third world Degenerates who break laws and get free $ and safe harbor from our own Government! The Nat. Guard should have been called in, and some A-10 Warthog tank killers along with some Apache helicopters to wipe the Mexi sucm off the face of the Earth! If that means making Mexico, MEXI-HOLE! Who cares! This has been an act of War, that our Fed. Gov allows and entices Illegal Aliens to DO! Both Bush and Obama! I wish 100,000 squatters would live in GW Bush sh*t hole! And use his own personal funds! The SS should drop Bush II in Mexico with the people HE LOVES MORE THAN US CITIZENS! I'm sick of this stuff! That's what Armed Militias are all about DEFENDING THE HOMELAND! In the 80's we feared the Russians, in the 21st Century we fear our own Gov. more than the "evil Commies!" It's sad! The USSR kept peace. But our own Gov. wants to disarm it's people and turn them into Killing Fields like Cambodia. Mean while people are in DENIAL!

GP Cobb @ 6/28/2014 9:03 AM

Well written CC.

Capt. Crunch @ 6/28/2014 9:22 AM

I also agree with CC. I think this could be a good thing, but first let me say I am glad no one was hurt, but now we have the Mexican government by the balls, we can now force them to help us control the border on our terms. AS far as sorry goes that only counts when you accidently spill a drink.

Morning Eagle @ 6/28/2014 9:28 AM

On 5 June this year four armed Mexican police "mistakenly" crossed into the U.S. and were arrested. 48 hours later they had been released without charges and allowed to return to Mexico. Meanwhile Mexico has been holding a U.S. Marine in prison who made the same "mistake" only in reverse and our state department does nothing to secure his release. This latest Mexican military or police incursion is not the first though it may be the first time they have actually shot at our BP. Given the level of corruption it is likely they were purposely creating a diversion in order to cover for drug and/or human smugglers that were crossing elsewhere. With modern navigational equipment they have received from us along with the helicopters it is highly unlikely the didn't know they had crossed the border. But not to worry, they did apologize so what more could we ask? Next time it happens, shoot them down. They are pushing us, testing us, and finding us ridiculously weak.

casual observer @ 6/28/2014 9:52 AM

Yup, Concerned Citizen has got something there.
I'm writing from Canada (I'm Canadian). The direction in which the USA is going is disconcerting and alarming. I really feel sorry for you guys. The USA has been the greatest country in the history of world - the sweet land of liberty and opportunity - but I see that being taken away from you. And as the USA goes, so goes Canada. Very troubling.

Jack Betz @ 6/28/2014 1:00 PM

War you want, war you get

Sgt. Mike @ 6/28/2014 2:12 PM

Keyboard Commandos...

Have anyone of you even picked up your phone and spoken out to your state or congressional reps? So many unspoken and unheard words but with all that righteous indignation, what have you done?

Tyson @ 6/28/2014 6:02 PM

I see nothing new on this event, many , many times US Border patrol have shoot and Kill Kids across the border in the Mexican side, so nothing wrong with this, I hope the US border patrol gets some of their own medicine, (Shoot First ask question later), and Now Most of the Mexicans in the USA side are working hard in all the jobs and that we the white man do not want to do and even Bush have Mexicans working in his State,,
Now you have to remember that all the border States with Mexico were Mexican Lands until by some obscure reason got sold to the USA , so Mexican consider that some of their land and the US border patrol should NEVER hire Chicanos as they are the ones making troubles for both sides of the border

Todd Hankins @ 6/29/2014 9:57 AM

Pancho Villa would be proud!!

Capt. Crunch @ 6/29/2014 10:21 AM

@ Tyson, if your story were true 50,000 illegals (all children) would not be coming across the border today and being well threated. Also a man/woman no matter what their race is, if they are looking for work they will do any job they can. Your remark about Chicanos, is racist. Being raised in California I have met a lot of Chicanos and they are good people and yes I'm, white. If you own a house and you feel the land that it sits on was stolen from Mexico by the USA, then I suggest you put your money where your mouth is and give the house and land to a needy Mexican family.

Lenny @ 6/29/2014 8:36 PM

Maybe they thought the border patrol were throwing rocks at them and they feared for their lives.

Hmmgofigure @ 6/29/2014 10:16 PM

Don't throw rocks if you do not want to get shot...... By the way, they used rock throwing as a way of execution in the Biblical days. THEREFORE, rocks can kill. I bet you if a pitcher hit you with a baseball at 70mph in the head, you would have some serious bodily harm done to you. In 99% of all use of force policies, serious bodily harm is a lethal force situation. Look it up on google!! Also, Mexican Federales and/or army shooting at U.S. Fed Agents gives us the right to shoot back; markings are nothing more than paint when that happens. They are lucky there wasn't an Air and Marine Blackhawk in the area....... Mexico would be down one less Blackhawk. We would give them another of course and probably punish our own agents, but Mexico would understand where their line is when it comes to agents in the field. Also, Tyson, you might want to look up the Mexican American War. We won. We marched on Mexico City. We "paid" Mexico (little) for Cali, AZ, NM, CO, and NV, maybe TX.

S.S. @ 6/30/2014 7:13 AM

Im an Officer out here in a bordertown. Im hispanic, but Im an American first. I was born and raised here. I see this crap everyday. You can bet atleast 1-2 people that I stop are illegal everday. Our immigration laws are broken and have been broken. It pisses me off as Im sure it pisses you all off, that we cater to mx. by giving them money, and all other aids we provide for them. They laugh at us, and we put up with it. They imprison our citizens , who have done nothing but take a wrong turn into that forsaken city of Juarez, Mx. Our Government needs to SERIOUSLY GROW SOME BALLS!!!!

Krisnlc @ 6/30/2014 7:45 AM

First lets state the obvious...Concerned citizen is nuts! the others who agree with his basic generalizations are nuts also or just plain dumb. As far as other statements, regarding our marine trapped over there and our humane treatment of their people who break the law, well that is another story. Our government is seriously flawed and weak in these circumstances. Now i don't advocate a war because they shot at our BP like knucklehead CC does, but there is a point where enough is enough. Dona Ana County just being sued because they incarcerate and hold illegals for the BP, on a "hold request", the persons were intially booked on disturbing the peace, but an advocate group helped them generate the lawsuit. The advocate group is our people sueing our own governments on behalf of illegal aliens... Casual Observer is right, it is troubling how we have become more concerned with the illegals rights than our own safety. But war...really?! Concerned citizen is coo coo.

tedb @ 6/30/2014 7:47 AM

SS: Well said. TYSON: Are you really a product of the American educational system? If so, we have failed miserably at more than just enforcement of our immigration laws.

SnowCop @ 6/30/2014 9:24 AM

I've always been a bit curious. The US Government spent trillions of $ on the conflicts in Iraq and Afganhistan as well as in other middle eastern and African countries, under the belief they were hunting terrorist. At the same time, Mexican drug cartels are slaughtering thousands of innocents on the border. Shootings, bobmbings, beheadings, kidnappings, etc. Seems to me the terrorists are already in Americas backyard.

I would think that it would be a priority for the US Gov to invade Mexico and liberate the border towns from the terrorists, to keep the country safe and bring stability to the region. Mexican Nationals have carried out attacks against American citizens on American soil.

Yet, the US Gov is stripping authorities/ manpower from the US Border Patrol. Persecuting and prosecuting LE Members in the border region, for doing thier jobs.

Something isn't passing the smell test. The politians really need to speak to this and do something helpful for a change

hospitalchief @ 6/30/2014 10:30 AM

Wow!! Chill out CC!

Nogales @ 6/30/2014 1:43 PM

SnowCop, I looked into your idea while working on my Dr. degree. The reason is murder in the name of Allah is a terrorist act by US govt standards. Murder in the name of drug distro routes is, by US govt standards, just crime. So we have to play circus and arrest/trial everyone. Here in Nogales we get all the crap. There is a reason for shooting people who throw rocks. I learned rocks hurt the hard way. I'm tired of having criminals released back to MX before I get the photos of the drugs in the car off the camera. The system is broken. I've talked to the Govt reps when they visit, but none have enough guts to fix it. It might offend someone (not a US citizen). So, lets get our votes together and see if we can fix this. I don't want my kids competing with illegals for jobs they qualify for. And believe me, it's not just farm or hotel cleaning jobs.

plato's playdough @ 7/1/2014 1:17 AM

A long, long time ago... There was a country called Canaan. They didn't all get along all the time, but at least they had a common religion, and they were one people. Then a lot of people started coming up from the South, saying they were just running away from the bad Egyptians who made them slaves. Being not heartless, they were not opposed at first. Until they were attacked.

Thought it might be a misunderstanding, queried intent, were told that some riffraff were to blame, they would fix it. Next thing you know, there's a HO in JERICHO who was a spy for them, and they brought the HOUSE down, if you catch my drift.

But if Canaan had only known, from the beginning, what the invader's children were being taught, they would have realized that what they got, would be the loss that would cost them everything. They were dispossessed of their own country.

They teach it still today. Do YOU know what THEY know? (Eber Mitzraim.)

Hmmgofigure @ 7/1/2014 9:58 PM

@Nogales: I am not being disrespectful, but if you look up the definition of terrorism, everything that the drug cartels are doing is considered terrorism. It is narco-terrorism, but still terrorism by definition.
1. systematic use of violence and intimidation to achieve some goal
2. the act of terrorizing
3. the state of being terrorized
Even the Mexican government went to the U.N. and said that the cartels are terrorist organizations. Also, it has been proven that terrorist organizations use drugs for funding their terrorist acts.

I would also like to state from a professional POV that the immigration system isn't really broken. The agencies who enforce the laws are more or less handcuffed. IEA and USBP have a broad authority as far as immigration goes, but they can only do what they are allowed to do by their higher ups.
