VIDEO: Charlotte Police Shoot, Kill Man Wanted for Firing at Officers

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police shot and killed a suspect wanted in an officer-involved shooting earlier this week.

Police identified Ricardo Wilburn, 21, as the suspect in Monday night’s crime. Officers received a tip that Wilburn was seen in the 7700 block of North Tryon Street Wednesday night.

When officers arrived on scene they observed a man matching the description of Wilburn enter a room at the Intown Suites located at North Tryon Street, WCNC TV reports

Officers called the room and spoke to a woman in the room who came out voluntarily, police said.

Officers attempted to convince Wilburn to surrender peacefully however he refused, police said.  Wilburn pulled a gun and pointed the weapon at officers.  At this time police shot Wilburn once in the abdomen.  Medic transported Wilburn to Carolinas Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
