Off-duty Calif. Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash

May 01, 2014  |

An off-duty police officer was killed in an accident on a freeway in Corona, Calif., on Thursday morning, reports KABC-TV.

The incident happened shortly after 9:30 a.m. Authorities say the officer was traveling on his personal motorcycle in the carpool lane, and at some point he collided with another vehicle. His body was thrown over the center divider into the path of a car traveling eastbound.

The officer was identified as 30-year-old Shaun Jarvis, an eight-year veteran of the San Bernardino (Calif.) Police Department.

I feel sorry that the officer was killed but I have to wonder what he was doing in the carpool lane on a motorcycle.
