A 16-year-old girl was assaulted and killed by a classmate Friday morning at a Milford, Connecticut, high school, authorities said, reports CNN.

The attack occurred in a hallway at Jonathan Law High School around 7 a.m. and was witnessed in part by a school staff member, who attempted "life-saving measures" with others, Milford Police Chief Keith Mello said.

Maren Sanchez, a junior, was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital at 7:43 a.m., Mello said.

The police chief didn't provide a motive but said investigators are looking into rumors a boy was angry because Sanchez had declined to go to the prom with him. The prom, scheduled for Friday night, has been postponed.

its a good thing conn. passed all those assault weapon/firearms laws to protect their kids at school. that was some real common sense laws! oops, well maybe they should ban knifes or make a registry of big knifes in the state...or make illegal to have a knife in school. I dunno.
in the meantime, the innocent still suffer.

im so sorry for your loss, such a waste of life so young.

Thank you, House, for taking a tragedy and turning it into a soapbox for your negative propaganda. Hope you feel good about yourself.

I hope they use the same "assault" knife to remove the kid's balls...scum like him and his like should be wiped from the gene pool. This story makes me sad...
