VIDEO: 2 Indy Officers Dead in apparent Murder-Suicide

RTV6 Indianapolis is reporting two Indianapolis police officers were found dead Thursday evening in an apparent murder-suicide on the city's far-west side.

Chief Rick Hite said Sgt. Ryan Anders and Officer Kim Carmack were found dead in a home in the 2400 block of Inishmore Court, near 21st Street and Country Club Road.

Hite said it appeared that Anders had forced his way into Carmack's home. RTV6's Jack Rinehart reported that sources told him Anders cut the lines to the security system at Carmack's home before the incident.

This is upsetting news and becoming to common in the LEO world. I know LEO's are somewhat personable type people by holding onto their own problems, but if you have a problem, check in with your partner's for support and guidance.
My condolences to the Indianapolis Metro PD and to the Families of the deceased Officers.

This event is yet another example and reason to have a Forensic Psychologist on the books and available to the departments. LEOs knowing this and being aware that counseling, intervention, and workable solutions are available is of paramount importance. I am speaking as a Forensic Psychologist who did pro bono work in both Arlington and Fairfax counties in VA.

The worst part of these domestic murder-suicides is that someone heard and/or knew this was a bad separation and knew something like this would happen and said or did nothing. I've seen and heard of this in my career and it's virtually always the case. Sad and tragic for all.

Preventing suicide and coming alongside our own is a huge part of what we do as a ministry. I have suicide prevention resources on my website (Google The Centurion Law Enforcement Ministry).

Committing suicide or having a murder suicide is very horrible.. Anyways, Regarding with this article is a safety management named Safekidzone.. This is a downloadable phone application via smartphones and android phones.. It is very useful phone app., for us to protect ourselves, our children and our family as well.. Because, this app. has a panic button that the subscriber will press every time there's an emergency or danger.. And this service serves 24/7, with an accurate GPS coordinates that will be sent to their system to have your incident location in lesser time; and also the best feature of this service is escalating calls to 911 with the most personalize and accurate help prior to the subscriber's SAFETY PROFILE.. Just visit Safekidzone website for more information about the app..

This is indeed very sad. As a former police chaplain, I encourage anybody who needs assistance to seek it as soon as possible. This can come from many sources; fellow LEOs, chaplains, doctors, family, churches, synagogues and many other groups and ministries. Strength and healing are not found in bearing the burden yourself but allowing others to help.

My prayers and condolences are with the families and friends of the dead officers and with the Indy Metro PD.

God's peace.
