On Wednesday, two reputed gang members were sentenced for the 2009 murder of Chicago Police Officer Alejandro "Alex" Valadez. Maximum prison terms of 120 years for Kevin Walker, 25, and 105 years for Christopher Harris, 25 , were handed down.

In imposing the sentences, Judge Jorge Alonso called Valadez “one of the best of us.”

A third defendant, Shawn Gaston, was sentenced in 2011 to 125 years in prison, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Valadez, 27, was killed while investigating a report of shots fired in Englewood, a violent district he’d transferred to in hopes of making a difference.

“We were so proud of the fact that we were serving the city in which we were born and raised,” said the murdered officer's sister Brenda Valadez, who become a Chicago police officer four years before her brother. “We wanted to make a difference.”

Im glad that they were caught and sentenced, but there is only one way to dispose of cop killers. I hope all three of you die a horrible death and may you rot in hell

GP Cobb @ 3/20/2014 7:18 PM

Jail is to good, too easy, too expensive......

JD @ 3/20/2014 10:41 PM

Naw, they'll get out early on some liberal judge finding their trial wasn't heard right and let them get time for some BS technicalities. Or better the state will do what California is doing and letting the Feds run their prisons and let inmates our early.

S.S. @ 3/21/2014 5:13 AM

GP Cobb is right. Reason being is that these a**holes are gonna be rockstars in prison for killing a cop. Yeah they won't have the freedom we do, but still 3 hots and a cot, and basically they're gonna be predators inside of the system as well. Not that I give a shit whatever those a**holes get in prison Im sure they deserve. It just really sux that these f**ken a**holes get to live. They just be given the death penalty immediately after they were found guilty. Just WISHFUL THINKING. My deepest condolences go out to the family and family in blue of Officer Valadez, may you R.I.P.

If these pukes get to live it should be up to their families and "bleeding hearts"(AKA ACLU) to take care of their needs in prison. Tax payer money should not have to go to feed, clothe, or provide for any of their needs. Wonder how long the "bleeding hearts" would stick around then.

Ima Leprechaun @ 3/22/2014 4:43 AM

Death Penalty is the best sentence. With a life sentence any governor can just let them out for no good reason.

Greg @ 3/26/2014 4:04 AM

Don't worry, Eric Holder is pushing to make sure these "sons of Obama" will be allowed to vote since too many Dems...ooops, blacks, are in the criminal justice system. Remember, they're attention to your government.

Jim Duncan @ 3/29/2014 1:10 AM

The system is the way it is for one reason? We live in a fallen world & the evil one is prince of this world with his millions of minions. I read so many deeply frustrated brothers comments who want justice. Justice will come & he will rule with a rod of iron; his name is Jesus. These clowns have sealed their fate!
