Carjacking Suspect Killed, Officer Injured in Phoenix Incident

March 18, 2014  |

One person has been confirmed dead in an officer-involved shooting under investigation at CityScape in downtown Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reports.

Phoenix police say the incident began as a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle in north Phoenix. The pursuit continued into downtown Phoenix, where the suspects pulled into an underground garage at CityScape, bailed and carjacked another vehicle.

When the suspects, a man and a woman, exited the garage, police tried to stop their vehicle by ramming it. The vehicle spun out.

Police shot and killed the male suspect; the female suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken into custody.

A police officer was injured while trying to stop the suspects' vehicle with his car.
