Dallas Officer Wounded in Weekend Shootout

February 17, 2014  |

A Dallas police officer was in stable condition Sunday night after he was shot three times Saturday afternoon while responding to a disturbance in far northeast Dallas, police say.

The man accused of wounding Officer Joshua Burns turned himself in at Dallas police headquarters several hours later as officers conducted an intensive manhunt for him, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The suspect, Rakeem Perkins, also was hospitalized Saturday night with a wound he suffered in the shootout.

The 30-year-old officer was at Baylor University Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

You truely are an idiot. I bet you call the police when kids play kickball in front of your house. Your a true definition of a keyboard coward. Stay off the site unless you have something intelligent to say. Get well wishes to the Dallas officer.

Let me make this simple. There is a difference between Anti-LEO and Anti-Police State. I listen to Alex Jones, sometimes he gets stuff right sometimes he gets stuff wrong. Like the LEO in NM who shot at a Mini-Van filled with a Thug Mother and Thug son. As for the kids? Were they strong as adults, like Travyon Martin? Who knows? You can hear people like Jack Blood say bad things about Alex Jones, and others in the Alt. Media. You can hear Rachel Maddow say bad things too. I'm hardly a Dictator trying to show different view points. It be the Kelly Thomas case or others like in SGF Missouri. In fact I'm being Objective. Not trying to force feed people propaganda.

The Occupy people want confrontations with LEOs at any cost.
While the Anti-Police State just want to be left alone, and still have their freedoms like Guns, Free Speech etc.

I hope people don't confuse who is who? And who is astroturf, and who is real grass?

Do Research ask questions. Thats what I say.

My prayers to Officer Burns. I hope for a speedy recovery and a return to duty. As for other comments on here lets try to remember this magazine is about the safety and fraternity of public service personnel not personal political agenda's.

I am glad the officer is going to be okay. I hope that the suspect is ready for some serious jail time because attempting to kill an officer should be the death penalty as far as this retired officer is concerned.
