Passenger in Stolen Car Dies in California After Police Pursuit

A passenger in a stolen car died in Long Beach, Calif., on Sunday night after a police pursuit that ended on California 103 with the car veering down an embankment, the Long Beach Police Department told the Los Angeles Times.
Officers spotted the stolen vehicle about 7 p.m. The driver refused to pull over and fled westbound on Pacific Coast Highway. He attempted to get on the southbound 103 but lost control.
The passenger died at the scene, while the driver fled on foot and was taken into custody a short distance away.
