Newtown Shooter was Near School Day Before Attack

November 25, 2013  |

Data recovered from a portable GPS that belonged to Newtown shooter Adam Lanza shows that he was in the vicinity of the Sandy Hook Elementary School for 23 minutes the day before the Dec. 14 massacre in which he killed 20 first graders and six adults, the Hartford Courant reports.

The data was discovered on a portable GPS device that was found in Lanza's home after the shooting, according to the 48-page summary report released Monday by Danbury State's Attorney Stephen Sedensky. The report stated that Lanza did not go directly to the school but was in the vicinity.

Sedensky concluded that "there was no evidence to suggest that anyone other than the shooter was aware of or involved in the planning and execution of the crimes that were committed on December 14, 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary School."

One parent or staffer with a firearm could have stopped the carnage.

Right on Rick, no further comments required, IMO.

Assuming a "parent or staffer" with a firearm would have unequivocally stopped the carnage is a complete, unsubstantiated guess. Rather, a parent or staffer with a firearm would have been able to engage the shooter, thereby taking him off of his line of attack on those kids and teachers. Who prevails ultimately in the firefight, no one can say, but nonetheless, an armed parent or staffer would have CERTAINLY meant less loss of life than what occurred by changing the purpose of the shooter from the slaughter of innocent children to self-survival

An ongoing discussion that we have is would or could an armed parent or staffer "really" be able to engage a shooter. Carrying a firearm is one thing, aiming at a person and pullling the trigger is something completely different. People say they can (and we hope the could) however even trained law enforcement officers and trained members of the military have been unable to carry through with that task. So is the end product a dead person and one more firearm for the shooter? What happens when the police show up and the only person with a firearm they see is the parent or staffer (and the police do not know them) and because of the carnage and excitement they are psychologically unable to comply with the police, are they going to be shot by the police. I think we in the law enforcement profession need not jump on the "knee jerk" reaction band wagon until we are able to resolve some of the issues that this decision may bring to question.

Agree with all. Trigger: regarding mindset and aftermath, I defer to Lt. Col. Dave Grossman's and

This is Fascism! Not Capitalism. The USA resembles the USSR with a Political Elite Class. That divides and conquers. COPS against citizens, black vs. white. Read the Iron Mountain Report. Know about Clowerd-Piven and the Hegelian Dialectic. US citizens aren't the enemy! Once the UN comes in, and there's a Pandemic. The LEO's will be on the United Nations Hit-List too! Anyone who doesn't comply with World Gov. will be a Traitor and considered a Non-Human. Like a Zombie. And will be eliminated.
