To confront a recent rise in robberies, Dallas Police Chief David Brown has turned away sharply from last year’s decision to radically reduce the number of robbery detectives, according to the Dallas Morning Herald.
Through the end of October, robberies were up about 5 percent from 2012, according to department statistics. Business robberies were up more than 20 percent.
Last week, department brass announced plans to add as many as 10 detectives to the robbery unit. Five detectives are also being added to the family violence unit.
