ATF Attempts to Quash Agent's Fast and Furious Book

October 07, 2013  |

The ATF agent who blew the whistle on the agency's failed Fast and Furious gun tracking operation told Fox News he'll publish a book about his experiences over the agency's objections.

Agent John Dodson had attempted to stop the operation internally and then went to Congress and eventually the media after the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Two guns found at the murder scene were sold through the operation that sold guns to Mexican drug cartels.

Dodson submitted "The Unarmed Truth" for review to the agency, which denied him permission to publish it. Dodson claims his First Amendment free-speech rights have been violated while the ATF says it can deny him compensation for outside employment.

The book is scheduled for publication on Jan. 14, according to Simon and Schuster.

Given the ATF's record on Constitutional rights, I am hardly surprized that they would ignore the first amendment. Do they take the same oath to the Constitution the rest of us do?

damn Jack... tell us how you really feel... This dude might want to get low. Obama will just sick a drone on his @$$

Please Jack, don't beat around the bush! And aj, are you suggesting that this administration would try and curtail our rights??? And to Agent Dodson, screw the DOj & ATF . What are they going to do, fire you? Your aleady gone. I can't wait for your book, assuming S&S won't back out. Blues,Stay Safe.

To former Agent Dodson, I will be one of the first to buy your book. Don't let them intimidate you! It takes an honorable man to do what you did. I wish we had a million just like you in every Govt office. Hell, I wish we had ONE politician like you. I hope you make a lot of money with your book, and I am saddened by the lack of care a lot of the nation holds about this. Keep the faith Bro, GROG

Capt. Crunch @ 10/7/2013 6:30 PM

Agent Dodson, be careful the Liar in Chief might come after you like he did Zimmerman. But I will buy your book.

Morning Eagle @ 10/8/2013 1:27 AM

I WILL buy this book as soon as it comes out. This despicable, criminal administration is literally getting away with being accessory to murder(s) by stonewalling investigative efforts and we must support those who have the courage to expose that fact. Hopefully the book will quickly sell millions of copies so even the government mouthpiece NYT will have to put it at the top of their bestseller list. So where does the ATF get off saying they can deny any profits to the writer? Can anyone spell tyranny?
