Teen Fla. Cop Killer Argues for Leniency

September 24, 2013  |

Convicted cop killer Nicholas Lindsey returned to a Pinellas County courtroom Monday as his attorneys argue that he should not spend the rest of his life in a prison cell.

That's the sentence the 18-year-old was given last year after being found guilty of killing St. Petersburg Police Officer David Crawford, whom he shot five times on Feb. 21, 2011.

Earlier this summer, however, a Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court granted a motion for Lindsey, who was 16 at the time of his crime, to be resentenced.

Lindsey's case—and that of other juveniles who were automatically sentenced to life without parole for their crimes—fell into a legal gray area last year when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional in the case of Miller v. Alabama.

the peice of crap should be sentenced to death and the US should follow through with it ! it does'nt matter how old he was ,he killed someone ! that's what's wrong with this country . you murder someone you get an easy way out, should be you murder someone and all the evidence is there that you did it, you have three days to say your good by's. then the end. the person you killed did'nt get that chance. it's sickning how times are !

His attorneys are right but not for the right reasons. Instead of living off the taxpayer dollars for the rest of his life the little POS should be executed. And screw the supreme court, they have been re-writing the Constitution for decades to fit their own personal opinions and/or those of the politicians that appointed them, Everybody just says 'well if the SCOTUS says it then it must be right.'

Retired NY Boss @ 9/26/2013 7:32 PM

That's fine, just sentence him to the same thing.

Morning Eagle, again you've taken the words right out of my mouth (post?). Hang the little bastard before obumer sticks his nose in. Hell, I'll even spring for the rope!!!

Jim B. @ 9/27/2013 7:34 AM

Morning Eagle, I just have to point out how amusing it is that you slam the Supreme Court for acting outside of the constitution and at the same time advocate for an action that would be completely against the constitution ("screw the supreme court"). Just makes me chuckle.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this killer deserves to get out or have his sentence amended or anything. I hope that they simply affirm his sentence and toss him back in his cell. And I think that is probably what will happen.

Ima Leprechaun @ 9/27/2013 7:36 AM

Life without parole or life within the gas chamber either way its the justice he deserves.

S.S. @ 9/27/2013 8:58 AM

Just kill the lil bastard, son of a bitch. He didn't show the officer andy leniency at all. Imagine how his family feels riht now and for the rest of their lives. He deserves no leniency or anything at all.

Capt. Crunch @ 9/27/2013 10:02 AM

I agree with S.S. why waste tax payer money.
