A Middlesex County (Mass.) Sheriff's deputy was wounded Wednesday during a struggle with a prisoner over his service weapon at a medical clinic.

Two deputies brought the prisoner to the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and as they began to remove his handcuffs, the prisoner began to struggle for a deputy's gun, reports CBS Boston.

The two men fell to the floor during the struggle, a round was fired, and one of the depputies suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The second deputy shot the prisoner in the chest. The prisoner was critically wounded, and the deputy was in serious condition but is expected to be OK.
