DEA Pilot, Ky. Trooper Injured In Copter Crash

July 29, 2013  |

A Kentucky trooper and Drug Enforcement Administration pilot survived the fiery crash of their helicopter in eastern Kentucky Monday morning.

The helicopter, which was part of a marijuana eradication team, was searching for marijuana plants in Breathitt County near Evanston when it went down, reports WKYT. The men were not immediately identified.

The helicopter apparently hit a wire, causing it to go down, a witness told WKYT. The pilot was able to pull the trooper from the wreckage. Kentucky State Police units from Hazard and Pikeville responded to the scene following the 10:55 a.m. crash, according to a news release.
