Calif. Officers Ambushed, Suspects Arrested

Two men who opened fire on a pair of San Bernardino (Calif.) Police officers at a vehicle stop Friday evening were taken into custody after the officers returned fire.

The men opened fire after officers pulled over their vehicle after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Base Line Street and Sierra Way. Eric Newsom, 22, and Keijuan Mayfield, 22, remain in police custody. Newsom was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The officer, who was shot in the leg, is expected to fully recover. The two suspects were also shot in the leg, reports the Los Angeles Daily News.
