Investigators found guns, ammunition, and samurai swords in the home of Sandy Hook Elementary School gunman Adam Lanza, according to court documents released today.

Additionally, authorities said the 20-year-old shooter killed all 26 of his school victims within five minutes of entering Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14. Lanza then turned the gun on himself.

In addition to the firearms, police found three samurai swords and a long pole with a blade on one side and a spear on the other in the gunman's home, reports Yahoo News. At the time of the shooting, Lanza was wearning military-style clothing and a bullet-proof vest.

Connecticut State's Attorney Stephen J. Sendensky III released a timeline of events leading up to the shooting that began when Lanza fatally shot his 52-year-old mother Nancy in her bed with a .22-caliber rifle.

Lanza shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary, killing 20 children and six adults with a Bushmaster XM15 .223 rifle. Fourteen rounds remained in a 30-round magazine when police recovered the weapon.

Lanza took his own life with a single shot from a Glock 10mm handgun (likely the G20SF). Lanza also carried a 9mm SIG Sauer P226. Police recovered three full 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster. Six additional 30-round magazines and 154 spent .223 casings were also recovered.

Police found a loaded 12-guage shotgun from the passenger compartment of the car Lanza drove to Sandy Hook Elementary. At the Lanza home, investigators found an open gun locker and determined all the guns used in the shooting were purchased by Nancy Lanza.

The Connecticut State Police, Newtown Police Department and other state and federal law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the shooting. The final report is expected to be released this summer.

Now come on, "stockpiling" really???? I am so tired of the news sensationalizing EVERYTHING! I hardly consider five guns a "stockpile". What happened here was a spineless "nut" went on a rampage killing children to glorify himself.

Bobby Mo @ 3/28/2013 4:27 PM

Very disturbed to see the use of the word "stockpiled" in a (believed to be) Police Bulletin Blog when the reality is that he likely took most of those guns from his mother's home after killing her earlier that morning. "Stockpiling" plays right into the media's hype that is trying to create a monster over "guns" after failing to treat or recognize the monster that did the crime.

Dwayne Juedes @ 3/28/2013 4:27 PM

Adam Lanza was a very sick young man. Adam's mother knew he had mental problems and should have never allowed him access to fire arms. There were a lot of red flags that people saw but failed to act on that could have prevented this tragedy. I encourage everyone to report any out of the ordinary actions by othere to the authoraties. The only way to stop these psycho's is to have a competent armed citizen there before the shooter starts his rampage.

njmotorcop @ 3/28/2013 4:52 PM

The article only mentions 4 guns - 1 rifle, 1 shotgun, and 2 handguns. That's a stockpile?!!! I usually have at least 2 handguns on me and my patrol car carries a shotgun and at least one rifle.

DPB @ 3/28/2013 5:28 PM

Did you see the leftist media play up that an NRA phamplett, as well as a NRA certificate was present. Those probably drove him over the edge, along with having a .22 caliber starter pistol that doesn't shoot bullets, and Heaven forbid, there was a bb gun, too!

By the way, anyone ever seen a .323 caliber rifle?

How about a 12 gauge shotgun with two magazines carrying 70 rounds? I know the street sweeper shotgun could carry 12 rounds. This kid must have been like Arnold Schwarzenegger to carry that shotgun out to the car.

This is the best they could do in three months to come up with some halfassed connections in order to push their limping gun ban along?

These bastards are lying and pushing like hell in order to disarm us all and too many people are buying! Wake up America!

DPB @ 3/28/2013 5:36 PM

By the way, my understanding is the mom bought these guns and the ammo legally. What would a background check have done to stop the son from getting her gun, killing her, taking her guns, and...(oh!)

They would have had to infringe the mom's right to own a gun to keep the child safe from himself! Wait a minute! I see a conudrum here: What about a women's right to have an abortion to keep herself safe from the effects of having a child! We can infringe on some rights, but not on others???

crash @ 3/28/2013 5:52 PM

ABC, NBC, and CBS have all reported that Adam Lanza DID NOT USE THE AR HE KILLED HIS MOTHER TO GET !!!!!!!! It was recovered from the trunk of the car he drove to the 'scene' in.

DPB @ 3/28/2013 6:06 PM

Crash,

The reporting I read indicated they found an AR style assault rifle near him, three empty 30 round magazines, with over a 150 empty cases scattered around, then killed himself with a 10mm handgun. I quote from State’s Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III :

Sedensky said Lanza killed all 26 victims inside Sandy Hook Elementary School with a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle before taking his own life with a Glock 10 mm handgun. He says Lanza had another loaded handgun with him inside the school as well as three, 30-round magazines for the Bushmaster.

Sedensky said 154 spent .223 casings were recovered at the scene. A loaded 12-gauge shotgun was found in the Honda Civic Lanza drove to the school with two magazines containing 70 rounds of Winchester 12-gauge shotgun rounds.

I believe someone is lying to us!!!

Mike McCloskey @ 3/28/2013 6:09 PM

I saw the news where they pulled the Ar-15 out of his truck of the car when are people gunna wake up and see that this is all bullshit

Morning Eagle @ 3/28/2013 6:26 PM

Is "stockpiled" a Police Magazine editorial choice or are they just parroting other media reports? In either case they need to watch their language because such terms just add to the emotional hype being spewed out by the general media and other administration mouthpieces to convince an ignorant and unthinking public that we need more restrictive laws to keep them safe from all gun owners. The guns weren’t “stockpiled” by the killer. His mother purchased them legally and he killed her to get possession of them. How does that equate to “stockpiling” on his part? If the guns listed here comprise a "stockpile" just think how many PM readers could be accused of having something quite similar. I'm surprised it wasn't described as an arsenal. They will milk every drop they can from this tragedy to further their clear agenda to disarm everyone except themselves and the rest of the criminals who ignore the laws they pass with relative impunity.

Morning Eagle @ 3/28/2013 6:47 PM

@ DPB, you nailed it when you said we are being lied to. Who knows which version, if any, is true?
@M. McCloskey, I too saw the first news video when they pulled the weapon from the trunk of the car and it certainly looked like an AR15 type to me and I have seen a huge number of them. The initial reports said the killings were done using handguns. That video quickly disappeared and the story was adjusted to fit in with feinstein's immediate attempt to ban nearly all semi-auto firearms and so-called high capacity magazines. Yeah, we are being lied to but that has become the government and media SOP now days.

Steve Harris @ 3/28/2013 8:01 PM

"Stockpiled?" Shame on whoever wrote this.

gp cobb @ 3/28/2013 8:57 PM

I think it's all BS. IMO, I'm not sure it even happened at all, Google it on U-tube and see the conspiracy theories. How can a child be dead one day and posed on Obama's knee for portrait the next? Amazing Chit Uh?

Bob @ VA @ 3/29/2013 4:57 AM

The timing of this release coincides with the CT legislature vote in the next few weeks to take more 2nd Amendment rights away from CT citizens. It's almost impossible to separate the lies from stupid reporting mistakes as few reporters/commentators know jack about firearms. Four or five firearms hardly constitutes a stockpile, although over 2 billion rounds of ammo at DHS certainly is!

As has been pointed out, this psycho's mother purchased all her firearms legally and stored them in a safe - all laws were followed, including background checks. CT has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. New laws won't make any difference as judgement was obviously lacking, though, in teaching the psycho to shoot and giving him access to firearms.

The real issue is our broken mental health system. There's no simple fix to that issue, so it's much easier to restrict 2nd Amendment freedoms with feel-good but worthless laws.

Trigger @ 3/29/2013 5:13 AM

How can you stockpile something when it's not yours? Sound more like theft to me.

Max @ 3/29/2013 6:50 AM

@ Mike McCloskey

That was the Saiga 12 Shotgun they found in the trunk. It is a Kalashnikov based shotgun and from a far distance. Someone who doesn't know what they're looking at would confuse it with the ar15. That was the shotgun in the trunk not the rifle.

@shdwmakr @ 3/29/2013 7:36 AM

Okay I hardly believe that someone so prepared would start out using a half used magazine. 6 spent 30 round magazines, and only 154 casings recovered? Did he have someone else there half @ss cleaning up after him.......

Rick @ 3/29/2013 8:56 AM

Google Sandy Hook Hoax and you'll find all types of videos on youtube that point out inconsistencies; the actor who was smiling before he gave an interview about his precious daughter that was killed, the actor who let the kids into his house and changed his sstory the next day, the fire trucks all parked at the back of the school-backed in next to one another, the list goes on. By the way, the two actors who were mentioned, it was found out that both belong to the screen actors guild.

James @ 3/29/2013 9:37 AM

I do not believe that four guns is stockpile. And as he was underage, it would appear that his mother bought the ammunition. I would wonder how many teenage boys have a couple of sword in their rooms?
I am very surprised at they wording of this article.

Michael Bray @ 3/29/2013 10:22 AM

There is a lot of "gun blaming" surrounding this event. Lots of apparent lies as well. As more details emerge about the shooter, why aren't we raising at least as much issue over the violent video games this shooter, and other shooters feed upon. Apparently about all this shooter did was play video games. Col. Grossman sure sees a coorelation between these incidents and violent media.

NBC's investigative reporter Michael Isocroff along with NBC's Stephanie Gosk reported on a VAST array of weaponry found.
2 riffles 1 handgun 1 shotgun 2 swords and a spear and a brick and a half of ammo.
What adjective could they use to describe my or your gun collection.

Fed Cop @ 4/1/2013 7:37 AM

I also read he killed himself with a "Glock 10" in the newspaper. The article also said the guns were purchased by his mother. No background check of his mother, or a psychological examination of his mother would have prevented this nut case from obtaining his mother's weapons. Although she too is dead, there's significant culpability on her part on having those guns in the house unsecured. Especially, in light that she suspected her little POS was a mental case.

Reason @ 4/1/2013 11:53 AM

@ DPB.... I am not sure what you meant by the abortion reference. Killing a child in the womb is the same as killing it out of the womb. Just because our system has allowed the slaughter of innocence under the guise of "woman's rights" doesn't make it right. The child in the womb has rights. Where is their voice. Woman have a right to choose "TO KEEP THEIR LEGS CLOSED". If they choose not to do that and conception results, well then that conceived child is an American. They has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness no matter the stage of development. The child has its own DNA so it is not a part of the mother. Her rights end when they infringe on the rights of the baby inside her. ABORTION IS MURDER. Where is the voice of the innocent???

Truth @ 4/1/2013 12:13 PM

The propaganda being peddled to the general public by the liberal gun grabbers is very disturbing. What ever the narrative the gun grabbers want is being regurgitated without question by the media. Its a psyop being run right in front of our faces. I believe in the principles this country was founded on. I believe we are headed down the wrong path as a nation and are far off the course the founding fathers intended for us to go down. We need men of valor to be the voice of reason. No more PC crap. We need real truth, real justice, and to be restored to the American way. The bill of rights was bought and paid for by the blood of patriots. That includes the 2nd Amendment.

Making kids safer in school is a 2 step process.
1) Abolish "Gun Free Zones".
2) Train teachers who volunteer and can meet the requirements to conceal carry on the school grounds and respond with deadly force when required.

Our kids deserve real safety not the illusion that is being peddled. Obamas kids go to a school with 7 heavily armed guards. Why not a "Gun Free Zone". Because he knows the difference folks. Our kids are just as important as his. Let get real safety not the illusion.
