The attorneys for James Holmes have offered a guilty plea in the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting in exchange for prosecutors sparing their client's life, reports the Denver Post.

"Mr. Holmes is currently willing to resolve the case to bring the proceedings to a speedy and definite conclusion for all involved," the lawyers wrote in a Wednesday court motion.

Prosecutors said they would announce Monday whether they will seek the death penalty against Holmes, who is accused of killing 12 people on July 20 during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Returns."

Several sources, including the Washington Times, have reported that Holmes has converted to Islam while in prison and prays five times a day.
