Va. Cop Shot In Head by Cabbie

February 28, 2013  |

An Alexandria (Va.) Police officer was shot in Old Town on Wednesday afternoon, just steps from an elementary school where first-graders were outside playing, authorities said.

The officer, 17-year veteran Peter Laboy, 45, was in critical condition Wednesday night at Washington Hospital Center, where he had undergone surgery.

The suspect, a cabdriver, led police on a chase into Fairfax County moments after the shooting. His yellow minivan taxi crashed, and he was taken into custody.

According to www.fairfaxunderground.com, the suspect had made twelve traffic vilolations since 2007. Perhaps this was his way of trying to avoid another ticket.

What a sad event. You never know when some puke will attempt to eliminate you. I pray that Officer Peter Laboy recovers from this senseless act.
