VIDEO: Bank Robbers Open Fire on Texas Cop from Van
New dash-cam footage shows bank robbery suspects opening fire on a Fort Bend County (Texas) Sheriff's deputy with an AK-47 during a May 2010 pursuit.
During the trial of the getaway driver, Deputy Charlie Scott's patrol car video was released that showed the harrowing encounter between the deputy and the armed men who had robbed a Bank of America near Highway 59 and Highway 99 south of Sugar Land, reports KTRK.
The video shows the deputy pursuing a white van driven by Larrylon Williams, who later surrendered. The rear door swings open and Moufak Kazzaz showered the deputy's cruiser with bullets. Deputy Scott was struck in the head and arm. He has recovered and since returned to duty.
The pursuit continued for 20 minutes, as Kazzaz fired on pursuing deputies and bystanders. He was shot and killed by officers on a dead-end street.
