D.C. Cop Left His Child to Die in Hot Car, Prosecutors Say
January 14, 2013

A Metropolitan (D.C.) Police officer who says he is innocent is being tried for shooting and killing his 20-year-old mistress and leaving their infant child to die in a hot car in 2011.
Prosecutors say Richmond Phillips, who was involved in a paternity dispute, committed the crimes so he wouldn't have to pay child support.
Phillips' defense lawyer said in court that Phillips is innocent and the evidence is circumstantial.
