To Police Chief Kimberley Jacobs, I commend you and wish you all the strength and support you will need to enforce this policy. You are a brave woman, and I do not envy your task. Unfortunately it is a task that must be undertaken in many departments. Best of Luck.

Qualify "untruthful"? During interrogations, most if not all investigators will tell suspects some "half-truth", embellesh on something else, etc, to get the suspect to talk. "I'll talk to the prosecutor and tell him you cooperated. We'll see if the charges can be reduced." That's a half-truth. You'll talk to the prosecutor, he'll tell you "no way", and you'll say "Cool". You tell them that even when you know, "it ain't gonna happen". The POS takes the ride.

Brady v. Maryland should be the standard so there should be no argument. Best of luck to Chief Jacobs. Her police union should back her on this (but knowing unions - probably wont't).

I'm not sure I get what she is doing. It sounds like she already has a list of officers that have lied. They should have been fired already. (yes, I understand reasonable deception in investigations) Can someone explain?

The state of Florida already does this and it's avaiblable to the Public as well as Police Agenicies. Officers who have had their police credentials recinded by the Stae of Florida are all on this list.
