VIDEO: Off-Duty NYPD Cop Takes Down Robber

An off-duty New York Police Department officer was shot after he confronted armed robbers while off duty.

NYPD officer Ivan Marcano was driving with his girlfriend Wednesday evening in the Bronx when he spotted two armed suspects robbing another man. Officer Marcano got out of his car, identified himself as an officer and showed his gun and badge.

The suspects fired at Officer Marcano, striking him in the chest. Despite his wound, the officer returned fire, fatally striking one of suspects in the head.

Never really "off duty" when a violent crime is happening right in front of you. Good job Officer Marcano! You did the right thing the right way and that includes killing the POS. May your recovery be complete and rapid.
Additional details on a story like this would be appreciated such as condition of the officer and what happened to the second perp.

True meaning of the word HERO. Helluva job. We're never off-duty. Always on 24/7. I hope he's doing well, and hope its not that serious. Things like this and officers like this make us all look good.Glad you're on our side.
