Ga. Man Shot By Police Had Pointed BB Gun

September 17, 2012  |

A 20-year-old man who was shot and killed by a Gwinnett County (Ga.) Police officer had pointed a black, bb gun at the officer prior to the shooting, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Victor Charles Le was shot outside his family's home shortly before midnight on Sept. 12. Police had responded to the 3800 block of Southgate Circle in Lilburn to handle a domestic dispute.

The responding officer negotiated with Le outside the home for two minutes and told him several times to drop the authentic-looking black pistol. The officer fired when Le pointed the gun at him.

Good God! 20 years old and still that dumb? Glad the Officer is unharmed. Blues, stay safe.

In before the haters show up, spewing ridiculousness about how this kid was innocent and the cop was in the wrong, blah blah blah.

I'm sure this officer is probably dealing with a lot of emotional trouble now, first because he thought he was faced with being shot, second because he shot and killed someone, and third because it was later determined that it was a BB gun and his life wasn't really in danger. But there was no way for him to know that, and he did the right thing.

Even if it was a bb gun, the Russians used them for assassinations during the Cold War. The pelts were hollowed out, filled with poison, and covered in hardened sugar. Once shot into the victim the pellet to slowly release the poison in the bloodstream. If you don’t believe this, look up umbrella assassination with Ricin.

"...using compressed gas to fire a tiny pellet contaminated with ricin into his leg.[2][42]"

Good Shot!

The officer did what he had to at that time and place. He is alive to go home. Thank God.

The Russians had nothing to do with it. If the 20 year old did not have the brains not to point the BB gun at the officer I am sure he could not work out how to use poison in his BB gun.

Prayers for the quick conclusion to all that this officer is going through.

No way for the officer to know if the gun was real or not. Not acting can be fatal. I know this because a suicidal jerk forced me to shoot him. He had a Wii gun controller in his jacket and tried to pull it out. All I saw was the grip. He never got it out. He did not die but has a colostomy bag to remind him of the incident.

What an idiot. Another candidate for the Darwin Award. Prayers for the officer involved.

another dumbass suicide by cop. The real victim is the officer who fired the round. This is something that will stay with him for a long time. Even though he did the right thing. No way to know it was a bb gun.
