Founder of Anti-Police Website Faces Prison

The founder of the anti-law enforcement Website CopBlock.org has been indicted on three felony wiretapping counts relating to a viral video report he published alleging excessive force.

Adam "Ademo" Mueller's report focused on a Manchester (N.H.) Police school resource officer's arrest of a 17-year-old West High School in October 2011.

In a video clip captured on a student's cell phone, Officer Darren Murphy is seen lifts 17-year-old Frank W. Harrington III from his seat, spins him around, forces him into a prone position and arrests him. Although public officials told the student to delete the video, it ended up in Mueller's hands instead, according to a press release.

After viewing the footage, Mueller called the Manchester Police Department and West High School seeking comment. Mueller recorded interviews with the on-duty public officials, and then included them in a video report on CopBlock.org that publicized the alleged excessive use of police force at the high school.

According to New Hampshire state statues, in order to be guilty of wiretapping another party must have a reasonable expectation that their communications are not subject to interception.

Warms the cockles of my heart! Hope the arrest goes well too.

Chuck McKenzie @ 7/31/2012 6:24 PM

That cruel, violent cop! Everybody knows that the student would have readily complied if he had been asked politely. There is no question that a 17-year old male would never do anything to cause a problem for the school or law enforcement. I am a retired LEO and teacher and am well aware of the attitudes of these little scumsuckers. Hope all goes well for the officer, and Mr. Dirtbag and his blog go down in flames.

Tim @ 8/1/2012 3:39 AM

I hope this cop hating creep gets life in prison at a supermax facility. It's idiots like Ademo that stir society up to make people think it is ok to assault and kill officers. This man needs to be silenced and put in solitary confinement for the rest of his life and his stupid website should be erased for good.

Juan 10-13 @ 8/1/2012 6:14 AM

Ok let's put this in perspective.....the juvie is disrupting the class to the point the SRO had to be called to restore order. All the other students are behaving in class. The juvie elected to misbehave, therefore is accountable for his actions. Great job my Brother....keep up the good work and always watch your back. Especially while patrolling in the school.

Bob@Az. @ 8/1/2012 11:01 PM

There is Karma in the world!! If I had mouthed off to a cop at that age I'd have been wondering what hit me. This punk deserved what he got and that goes for Mueller too. Hope they put him in with some of the little darlings he loves.. Good job Officer Murphy and stay safe.

Ben @ 8/4/2012 2:41 PM

There's been an update on the story you may be interested in checking out - the guy's refused all plea offers and taking it all the way to trial. http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-824678

Kate @ 8/4/2012 6:19 PM

Damn, you people are sick, advocating that Adam is put in a cage for publicizing the actions of public officials whose salaries we are forced to pay for.

CopBlock.org is not an anti-law enforcement website, it is a website that advocates transparency and accountability.

Pete Eyre @ 8/4/2012 7:32 PM

From http://copblock.org/about

We do not “hate cops.” We believe that no one – not even those with badges – has extra rights. The failure to realize and act on that is to our detriment. By focusing the disinfecting light of transparency on public officials we safeguard not just our rights but those of future generations.

Think about the incident at West High School in another context. What would you do if you witnessed me, a grown adult, manhandle a kid on the street? I'd hope you'd intervene. I know I would come to the aid of someone not able to defend themselves. That's what Ademo did in this situation. He attempted to call public officials who claim to serve and protect and to educate. But instead he was stonewalled by those people. What does that say? Murphy's actions weren't honorable and shouldn't be supported. Nor should the knee-jerk damage control done by his colleagues.

I'm one of the co-founders of the CopBlock.org. If any of y'all who've left comments thus far supportive of the actions of Darren Murphy would care to do have a conversation with me via Skype, let me know - we could record it and share it and let the best ideas spread. pete@copblock.org

Pete, you may not "hate cops" but you sure do hate on what they do for society... enforce the law.

When a police officer chases down a speeder by driving in excess of the posted speed limit, is he enjoying "extra rights" to high-speed thrills? No, he is doing what is necessary and proper to enforce the law.

You know and I know and we all know that citizen Pete Eyre has no business manhandling kids on the street and that doing so has no equivalence to the enforcement of the law by a sworn officer commissioned by his fellow citizens to uphold justice and public order.

The reasonable enforcement of a just law is not an injustice.

I learned about Copblock from www.FreeTalkLive.com radio.

Here is the Cop Block 101 Tutorial...

There are NOT anti-Police - they are pro-justice.

Andy @ 8/5/2012 12:11 PM

It's a shame that this thread comes up when you Google Ademo's situation. Quotes like "This punk deserved what he got and that goes for Mueller too" and "I hope this cop hating creep gets life in prison at a supermax facility" don't exactly make me want to jump to the defense of police officers - especially given how many incidences of brutality have made the news.

Did that dead, unarmed man who was shot in the back of the head in Anaheim get what was coming to him, too?

Ridiculous. There's nothing wrong with transparency - in fact, police should be rallying behind the cause and carrying their own cameras to prevent misreporting of alleged abuses. I think the only reason Ademo's in jail right now is because the public officials were embarrassed that the way they handled the situation was made public.

dave @ 8/5/2012 12:33 PM

This will be the first time an activist has taken a case this serious to trial since the state passed HB 146, a jury nullification law that ensures the defense’s right to inform the jury of their right to issue “not guilty” verdicts when they disagree with the application of the law in question.

Muller’s case (docket #216-2011-CR-01055, State V. Adam Mueller) is not a unique one. There have been many similar stories in the media over the last couple of years, with police hiding evidence of misconduct by threatening people with wiretapping laws and other catch-all charges, such as refusing to obey a lawful order, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct or obstructing an arrest. More frequently, police won’t make arrests but they will illegally confiscate cameras, delete videos and photos or incorrectly tell citizens that filming is not allowed.

“A public official who is on duty and in a public space has no expectation of privacy. The First Circuit Court of Appeals has already ruled on this in Glik vs. Cunniff,” said Ian Freeman, co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show Free Talk Live. “The person who should face consequences is the officer who threw that poor kid into a table during lunch at the school cafeteria, not the journalist who reported about it.”

Jeff @ 8/5/2012 3:24 PM

Looks like Copblock has sent out its goons. You can try as hard as you want to criticize the best Police force in the world, but in the end the badge will always win and you anti-American jerks will be rounded up and stuffed in prison where you belong.

Andy @ 8/6/2012 6:11 AM

@Jeff - if being Anti-American means not to want to get beat up by police (or worse, for no apparent reason other than the cop's on a power trip), wrap me in a commie flag and call me Mao.

There are good cops out there - in fact I know several. Come to my family reunion, and you'll see plenty of "thin blue line" stickers. I think that there are several bad apples in the bunch, though, and by sticking together instead of kicking the bastards out of the force, it ruins the whole bunch in the eyes of public opinion.

"You anti-American jerks will be rounded up and stuffed in prison where you belong" - how would you like it if I said that I'm going to spit in the next cop's face that I see for that comment? I wouldn't, but it's the same thing as you threatening to put people in jail for seemingly no other reason than disagreeing with you. This doesn't further the dialogue or paint officers in the best light, is all I'm saying.

Threads like these hurt your cause, not help it.

indio007 @ 8/6/2012 7:13 PM

Jeff,I love how you think anti-cop = anti-america. Police are mentioned exactly zero times in the Constitution. In facts cops didn't exist anywhere in th world when the Constitution was written. Maybe you should read Are Cops Constitution by Roger Roots Seton Hall Law Journal.
Some people know the truth about why this case press foward when we all know a conviction as absolutely zero chance of standing up on appeal.
it's to protect the municipality and the man pretending to be a police officer from liability for false arrest an imprisonment.
Don't try a give me immunity BS either. You don't have any when the Constitution is violated nor when a mistake of law is made.

This is a calculated risk that they can get a conviction and bar Ademo from suing them by getting him to plea. Well that didnt work and now the injury is compounding.

Shawn @ 8/6/2012 7:55 PM

Have any of you anti-copblock people read your own posts? The purpose of copblock and other such orginizations is to force accountability on a group of people(police) who refuse to properly police themselves.

Get used to the cameras and the questions, becuase the modern information age isn't a friend to to cockroaches who like to keep their crimes in the dark.

"I am a retired LEO and teacher and am well aware of the attitudes of these little scumsuckers."

Maybe that is why you got attitude. You've got a big and nasty attitude that thinks you have some right to give people 'what they have coming to them.'

"I hope this cop hating creep gets life in prison at a supermax facility. It's idiots like Ademo that stir society up to make people think it is ok to assault and kill officers."

No sir, it is cops who think they can do anything and wipe their asses with the Constitution that 'sir society up'. All people like Ademo do is report what YOU do. You just don't want your deeds to be seen in the light of day. If you were so proud, you'd want cameras following you around and recording your heroism.

Shawn @ 8/6/2012 8:01 PM

"Pete, you may not "hate cops" but you sure do hate on what they do for society... enforce the law."

But cops routinely do this by ignoring people's rights. Copblock wants law enforcement, but not at the expense of basic rights and human dignity.
We can start with the use of 'checkpoints' where you pull people over without cause and then harass them if they don't cooperate with your baseless decision to prevent them from going about their business.
Then we can discuss the arrogant attitudes that are fostered within a lot of police departments.

Issues such as this is why you hate copblock and the other groups. You don't want accountability to the public. You don't want people like Ademo reminding others that you aren't supposed to just do whatever you want.

Don't bother @ 8/6/2012 10:44 PM

Its funny how the copblock folks are communicating with non violent speech with reason and purpose, but the cops here are violent and nasty. This is the reason why copblock has grown so big around the country, and why guys like me who hold great paying government jobs with strong family values have joined and supported groups like copblock. A lot of you cops just don't get it, and we are here to either help you get it or help you out of this career field. It's your choice. Either respect the rights of fellow citizens or accept that we will expose you one way or another. The I hate the police movement is alive and well, and the future doesn't bode well for your bad kind. Look what just happened in Seattle. Police are turning in their own because they are tired of being lumped into the cesspool. It's not popular to be a dick anymore, and the younger cops realize that they don't want to go to jail or lose their job because of a rogue cop.

Zach @ 8/7/2012 4:10 PM

@ Don't bother and all other cop-blockers

Have you ever read some of the posts by your various comrades. Many on your site want to see cops dead and love to write about it. I love reading the person who guys by name of the_lakewood_4_are_burning_n_hell, that person wants all cops dead. And nice name to honor those four fallen officers and family members too.
You also obviously don't read the cop-block site. Here are just a few examples of the "non violent speech" that doesn't exist on cop-block.

So you as copsucker, or cop, or other authoritarian douchbag, condone and encourage prison rape. I imagine most of your worthless ilk are just as diseased as you. Cops, and their considably more retarded cousins, prison guards, seem to harbor latent homosexual proclivities that come out in such vile statements as yours.

I HOPE YOU AND YOUR WORTHLESS PROGENY DIE IN A FIRE.

And I say that with all due gravity and seriousness. Your fiery deaths would be an act of societal hygiene.

Nice non-violent speech......................right???????????????????????

you've got to be kidding me this cop shows major levels of incompetence and anger management issues. giving police officers who are trying to actually help us citizens a bad name. heres a video of what happend. activistpost.com/2012/07/copblock-founder-faces-21-years-in.html

Who are all these useful idiots whining about cops getting killed? Our Forefathers killed plenty. If you don't want that to happen to you, you rats need to desert this sinking ship of supposed communism in America. http://truthmonger.info

Ben Johnson @ 5/3/2013 12:59 PM

It's time to privatize law enforcement. More than 80% of fire departments manage to get by volunteering so why not volunteer or privatize the police? Look at all the security guard agencies out there. Besides, there are a crap load of police departments now being privatized including prisons. We need to turn all the rest of the police agencies over to private companies like Wackenhut....lol. Don't get mad---PRIVATIZE!

Reed Shapman @ 2/2/2014 5:18 AM

This whole website is folly!

Leo @ 8/30/2014 11:01 PM

History has proved every time, that all genocide and wars are provoked and enforced by the police. The word police is from the Greek word “SWEEP”. In American history the police have always enforced laws of racism and supremacy. It is time for us to realize that legalizing to a cop is like a vaccination to a disease. The police today have camouflaged their brutality from tanks and tomahawks to tickets and citations. The police are the new ‘ECONOMIC NAZIS”. It is time for us to realize that “violence is not the answer, it is the solution”.
When I was a child, I saw many TV programs showing the cops as good people. As I grew up, I learned how many countries fall under tyranny. They simply believe what is presented to them. I learned that my trust and respect has been taking for stupidity. A cop is only out to make money and it is always from taxpayer and hardworking people. They are the parasites of democracy. The Russians used tanks and tear gas. American cops use Tickets
