VIDEO: Force at Ala. T-Stop

The Huntsville, Ala., City Council will decide whether to reinstate an officer fired, in part, for pulling a speed violator out of her vehicle and arresting her.

Officer Phillip Lee was fired by the Huntsville Police Department primarily for the Dec. 13, 2011, traffic stop.

Chief Lewis Morris determined that Lee's behavior during the traffic stop and an unrelated arrest on Oct. 24, 2011, violated numerous city personnel rules including conduct unbecoming an employee, incompetence, neglect or inefficiency in the performance of duties, and habitual or repetitive acts of misconduct, reports AL.com.

The Dec. 13 stop began when Officer Lee pulled over Edith Stewart for speeding in a residential neighborhood.

After seeing Stewart argue with her teenage daughter, Officer Lee pulled her out of the vehicle. Stewart can be seen striking Officer Lee, who then arrested her.

The city paid $25,000 to settle a claim from Stewart over the incident.
