The St. Louis Police Department continued its search for two suspects involved in a gunfight with officers responding to a home invasion on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to a home in the 6200 block of Famous Avenue about 12:10 p.m. and approached a blue Ford Explorer idling in an alley behind the house. A passenger in the vehicle pointed a gun at one of the officers, prompting the officer to fire shots at the SUV, reports the St. Louis Dispatch.

The SUV then sped off carrying two people who were still at large Wednesday. Police then exchanged shots with a man exiting the back of the house as two other suspects ran off. The gunman, 22-year-old Brandon Jones, was shot in the chest and died later at a hospital.
