Conn. Trooper Union's 'No-Confidence' Vote Moves Forward

The union representing road troopers with the Connecticut State Police will conduct a "no-confidence" vote of the agency's leaders among its members, reports the Register Citizen.

There has never been such a vote in the agency's 109-year history. The union believes that Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Reuben Bradford and State Police Colonel Danny Stebbins don't "possess the characteristics or leadership skills necessary to successfully lead our agency into the future," union President Andrew Matthews wrote in a memo.

"They have ignored Connecticut labor law, our collective bargaining agreement and common sense, which resulted in an unnecessary increase in grievances, prohibited practice charges, and civil litigation being filed by the Union to protect our rights," Matthews wrote in the memo.
