A 24-year-old Florida man tried to choke the plainclothes Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy who fatally shot him, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told the media at a press conference.
Seth Adams made contact with Sgt. Michael Custer who was parked in the lot of Adams' family business on Wednesday night doing surveillance. Sgt. Custer identified himself as a deputy after Adams asked what he was doing in the lot.
Adams lunged at the deputy and tried to choke him, before running away and ignoring Sgt. Custer's commands to get on the ground. Adams headed to his truck and appeared to be getting something out and turned toward the deputy who fatally shot him. Adams was unarmed at the time, reports the Palm Beach Post.
