Miss. Investigator Killed Serving Warrant on Pedophile

May 01, 2012  |

A Pearl (Miss.) Police Department officer was fatally shot and two others were injured inside an apartment on Tuesday while serving a warrant for sexual battery and molestation.

Officer Mike Walter, a senior investigator, was allegedly shot by Carnell Gaines, 30, in the bathroom of an apartment where Gaines was holed up. Gaines was fatally shot by officers.

Officer Walter died shortly before noon, after he was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, reports the Clarion Ledger. The two other officers are in stable condition.

"Everyday we put on a shield it's a higher calling," Pearl Police Chief Ben Schuler told reporters. "Everyday we leave the house we know we might not come back."

A sad waste of a good life by another POS that shouldn't have even been out of prison. According to an article in the Clarion-Ledger the bad guy was killed by one of the other officers. That is good.

Sad to lose a good officer to this scum. If there is any good news, the gene pool has been cleansed a bit: http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20120501/NEWS/120501020/Suspect-killed-shootout-had-criminal-record?odyssey=mod|mostview.

This makes me so sad and mad at the same time. The police officers and all LAW ENFORCEMENT work so hard for so little and yet like it has been said, they never know if they will see there family again once they walk out that door. I continue to keep his family in prayer and all his brothers and sisters in BLUE. If you have not started praying for these HEROES, please start today. an officers mom, ANN THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT !!!

I would have been a New Jersey State Trooper, if I hadn't got hurt while on active duty with the Marines. My heart felt condolences to the Police Investigators family. I was extremely glad to hear that the scum-bag bought the farm too, I just hope it was more than one bullet that bought him down!

So much for the theory that 'certain' types of criminals aren't dangerous. Without having specific information, the headline lists the suspect as a 'pedophile' and the warrant was for sexual battery and molestation - presumably of a minor.

Looks like he didn't want to go to jail or prison.

Probably much like embezzlers and con men (persons?) don't want to go to jail, either.

Be careful all the time.
