ACLU Sues Border Patrol Over Traffic Stops

April 27, 2012  |

The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington filed a lawsuit Thursday against the U.S. Border Patrol, alleging agents routinely and illegally violate the rights of Latinos and other people of color through unjustifiable traffic stops.

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court seeks an injunction to prevent Border Patrol agents from performing traffic stops until they undergo specific training under the eye of a court-appointed special master.

It also asks the court to require the agency to document all traffic stops, including the specific reason the vehicle was targeted.

The ACLU comes through once again trying to tell law enforcement how to do their job and blaming everything they don't approve of on supposed racial discrimination. They make me SICK! I can't see how any attorney with even the slightest smidgen of self respect can work for them but I guess big bucks can take the place of personal honor, especially with lawyers.

Someone should sue the ACLU for being a pain inthe arse! ACLU the leftover hippies from the 60's still trying to make life into a touchee feelie episode. Maybe the BP can explain that its not just about race and could also be about drugs and weapons.

I despise the ACLU, but they have a point here. How does a Border Patrol Officer sitting along the freeway determine that a car speeding by them at 70mph contains illegals and not legal residents or citizens? Instead of watching freeway traffic, they should be visiting the landscape companies in the Coachella Valley (CA). When my country club instituted an ID program, I personally kicked half of the gardeners out of the club for having fraudulent CA ID or fraudulent green cards. I contacted LaserCards and had the first civilian Green Card Authenticator made for our company so we could instantly verify whether a green card was valid. We routinely catch illegals attempting to work on our property with fake green cards. For $500 an illegal can get a fake green card, fake CA ID and a valid SS number. The SS number is a real number stolen from a legal resident or citizen with a hispanic name; that name is used on the fake CA ID and Green Card and the illegal then goes to work. The Social Security check always comes back as valid because the number was stolen from a legal resident or citizen.

Hey, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck...... . The aclu spends more time & money trying to defeat the laws of this country then any subversive group known. And Rick, I don't believe the BP sits along the freeway guessing which vehicle to stop. They have this thing called "Training" that teaches what to look for. Also, why didn't you bust the illegals at your country club? You know, fake state & federal documents, etc.

bluemeanie @ 5/10/2012 8:34 AM

What many people don't realize is that the ACLU started out as the American Socialist Movement. There primary goal is to overthrow the United States Government and disrupt as much as they can until that is achieved.

Minos270 @ 6/9/2012 4:58 PM

I believe that Border Patrol individual forget who they are, treating people as animals, I have to say that a badge does not mean, You are entitled to harass people specially minorities, They are prejudice and have no knowledge of treating people with respect, they need to take a class of how to treat different races. All of this because they are wearing a badge, my opinion is that they ask non sense question and they invade your privacy to the extreme.
