VIDEO: LAPD Pursuit Ends In Gunfire
Los Angeles Police officers fatally shot a 19-year-old man late Wednesday who appeared to point a weapon at them after a high-speed pursuit that ended along the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills.
The chase started shortly before 10 p.m. near Plummer Street and Shirley Avenue near the Northridge Fashion Center. Officers tried to stop Abdul Arian for driving erratically at high speeds and for running red lights, reports the Los Angeles Times.
While driving east on the 101 freeway, Arian swerved to a stop as officers converged on his vehicle. News footage shows Arian exiting his vehicle and running away from officers while making weapon-pointing gestures.
Officers fatally shot Arian. An LAPD spokesman didn't say whether a gun was found.
