Missouri Cop Struck During Traffic Stop

A 21-year-old man is in custody after police say he hit a Maryland Heights (Mo.) Police officer with his car and fled the scene.
Police say the officer pulled over a vehicle on a traffic violation in the 1500 block of Roth Hill Drive around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
When the officer began questioning the suspect about a possible drug violation, the suspect accelerated backwards, knocking the officer to the ground. The officer fired a shot at the vehicle, striking it in a front tire.
