Calif. Deputy Wounded In Shootout

A San Bernardino (Calif.) County Sheriff's deputy fatally shot a rape and robbery suspect, and was wounded in the Thursday shootout.

The gunfire erupted at 10:07 a.m. in the Stater Bros. shopping center near Highland and Del Rosa Avenues in San Bernardino, reports the Press-Enterprise. Deputies were searching for the suspect, who opened fire and ran when he saw the deputies.
