A couple that stole a pickup truck and led Anderson County (Tenn.) Sheriff's deputies on a seven-mile pursuit died after exchanging gunfire with the deputies, reports the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Just after 10:40 a.m., Lake City police got a report of a gas drive-off from a Pilot station. The Ford F250 pickup spotted at the station had been stolen from a veterinary clinic in Linton, Ind. The owner told police he left a shotgun and pistol in the truck.
Anderson deputies spotted the truck on Raccoon Valley Road and initiated a pursuit. After crashing the truck, the couple opened fire on deputies, who returned fire, killing the two. Deputies were unhurt.
