Police are tracking down leads to try and determine who shot and killed a state prison corrections officer in the parking lot of his home in Madison Heights early Saturday, but so far, no arrests have been made, reports the Detroit Free-Press.
Clarence Tariq Hammond III, 33, died of a gunshot wound to the head. The office performed an autopsy Saturday and ruled his death a homicide.
Hammond may have been shot when a suspect attempted to break into his home, reports the Daily Tribune. He was wearing his Macomb County Corrections Officer uniform at the time of the shooting.
