Police Search for Killer of Mich. Corrections Officer

Police are tracking down leads to try and determine who shot and killed a state prison corrections officer in the parking lot of his home in Madison Heights early Saturday, but so far, no arrests have been made.

Police are tracking down leads to try and determine who shot and killed a state prison corrections officer in the parking lot of his home in Madison Heights early Saturday, but so far, no arrests have been made, reports the Detroit Free-Press.

Clarence Tariq Hammond III, 33, died of a gunshot wound to the head. The office performed an autopsy Saturday and ruled his death a homicide.

Hammond may have been shot when a suspect attempted to break into his home, reports the Daily Tribune. He was wearing his Macomb County Corrections Officer uniform at the time of the shooting.
