Islamist Man Planned Ambush of Alabama Cops

January 10, 2012  |

A man believed to be an Islamist extremist allegedly shot out the windows of Alabama City businesses to lure officers to the area so he could ambush them, reports the Gadsden Times.

Luis Ibarra-Hernandez, 21, has been charged with attempted murder and apparently told Gadsden (Ala.) Police Department officers he needed to do something extreme to draw attention to Islam and himself such as shooting officers.

No officers were hurt in the shootout, and Ibarra-Hernandez eventually surrendered. Only one deputy returned fire.

Really. So, was Timmy McVeigh a Christian extremist who invoked the Turner Diary? http://bit.ly/wNdJ2u. Oh wait, he's not? Boy, do I hate the Mainstream Media.

Not going to get into a religious argument... Just am thankful no officers were injured.

Bob@Az. @ 1/10/2012 8:33 PM

Laura, I agree. But did anyone else catch the "believed to be" part? By who? Good ending, everyone went home.

How about McViegh being a Militia NUT!

Jim @ 1/11/2012 8:30 AM

Amazing! This is the typical Muslim terrorist and STILL all some people want to blame is the ultra right-wing! Second time this month a Muslim Terrorist planned a massacre of Police Officers and you want to talk about McVeigh? He has already been executed unlike the guy who planned 9/11 who is still sitting in Git-mo.

I'm glad no one was hurt. All foreigners need to be checked and double checked before entering the United States. I am not singling out a specific nationality, I mean every foreigner.

TimFromLA @ 1/11/2012 12:18 PM

Uh Jim? The guy arrested was in Iraq. A citizen of Iraq. As a matter of fact, practically every terrorists was from either Iraq or Afghanistan. Yet according to the FBI:

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/history/famous-cases/9-11-investigation/american-airlines-77

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/history/famous-cases/9-11-investigation/united-airlines-175

Where does it say Iraq, Afgahnistan, Sudan, Pakistan and now Iran? And why didn't we attack Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Lebanon? And as for their leader: http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/usama-bin-laden

bin Laden was never charged or was wanted for 9/11. Now tell me, with the passage of NDAA, with the bombing of the countries other than the above mentioned, is not Obama a war criminal then? Obama is killing innocent people who had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Yeah, he pulled the soliders out of Iraq, but he's still killing folks in Afghanistan. Would you then say that the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama is a terrorist? Would you? I showed you evidence, and if you're a cop, get off your butt and arrest him for war crimes. Or are you that typical conservative armchair commentator whop speaks a mean game but censors himself because you do not have the balls to make a good arrest?

James @ 1/11/2012 4:07 PM

TimFromLA, you are right! Now YOU don't be an armchair QB and do your duty and get Obama out of office in 2012!

Tom @ 1/24/2012 6:15 AM

Bin Laden WAS wanted for 9/11. His picture was in post offices.
